McGuire as color man
Al McGuire was a great coach, of course. The picture of him, sitting on the bench in the final seconds of his national championship, is one of the most poignant scenes in college basketball history. But Al was also an excellent color commentator. Obviously, he knew the game, and he had an outgoing personality and was not afraid to state his opinions. Plus he had the great New York accent.

RE: McGuire as color man
He was my favorite. I loved his comment about his son Ally who played for him. Another player on the team said "Coach, I should be starting. I'm as good as your son is". McGuire replied "Sorry. If you want to start you have to be better than my son"
