How many CUSA teams have gone to the NCAA in that time period?

Analyze JJ this year 15-8 6 wins against teams, with losing records in the C-USA. 1 win against a MEAC school, 2 wins against CAA teams and 1 win against D-3 VW. Also, 2 wins against a so-so FLA Atlantic team. That is 12 of our 15 season wins. Need I say any more!

Belmont won 26 games this year. Same as Gonzaga. But they didn’t win their conference and were left out of the NIT. I don’t know how many of their wins were against winning programs, or MEAC or CAA teams. Not sure if they played FAU either. They did beat George Mason. I don’t think anybody is blaming the coach that hardly any of their 26 wins meant anything.

Well, this won't make you feel any better. Wood was on Cattles' show yesterday and said (paraphrase) he was thrilled with Jones as coach. All he does every year is win 20 games and put us in position to win the CUSA tournament and get to the NCAAs. He was especially impressed with the job he did this year. I like Wood personally, but if that isn't the personification of delusional, I don't know what is.

Look I don’t care if you want to fire him or not. But let’s be realistic.

His buyout is over $1mil. We have seen a steep decline in revenue bc of covid, just built a football stadium and fired a football coach.

Without a big baller donor paying the freight (Ballard, Kornblau or Wittersheim), we won’t buy him out as long as Broderick is in office. And we don’t have that drive from those key boosters right now.

So are you really advocating Wood call him out on a radio show when he’s not really in a position to fire him? Come on, man. That would do more harm than good.

i did not hear the interview but based on what you said, what would be innaccurate about what Wood said?

I say let’s get to the A10 and then bring Blaine back. I loved that guy.

That's right Wood. That is literally all he does.

But I agree with Drunk. What else is he gonna say and do.

Someone on this board told me months ago they felt certain JJ was going to retire after this season.

We'll see.

People assume the CAA and ODU...in general....were way better than they actually were.

I said arguably. 7 may be hyperbole, but I don't believe North Texas would have finished in the top 5 of the CAA (the version we left) many years. VCU finished 4th in the league the year they made the Final Four. We got an at-large from there with 10 losses.

So who the hell is North Texas? or LaTech? or Rice? I don't know anything about them. But I do know who VCU, GMI, UR and W&M are and I can go watch them play. I can also go the Richmond and watch the tournament (better than on TV).

NSU has more recent NCAA wins than we have... and they may notch another NCAA win tonight.

JJ might do better in the A10, but best case scenario is we go A10 with a new coach. At this point we may as well not even play the regular season. It all comes down to the conference tournament. It’d save a lot of money.

Both are a problem. We also have a number of complacent fans that are satisfied with the mediocre results. Let’s not forget some of these same people wanted to keep Bobby around until the very end.

It just proves to me both jokers are the problem. Damn it, clean house!

I'm sure you will pull some stat from somewhere, but that's a really tough argument to win. During ODU's time in the CAA with Blaine at the helm, the conference had not one, but two teams reach the Final Four. Not only that but ODU defeated both of those teams in their best season ever. Additionally, ODU during that same timeframe defeated a Georgetown team that also went to the Final Four.

On top of that, ODU defeated Notre Dame in the NCAA tournament, lost to Butler on a last second tip in who ended up in the NCAA championship game, and, ODU made it to the NIT Final Four.

Neither CUSA, nor ODU has had that level of success since ODU has been in the conference.

Also those who supported Bobby until the very end often rationalized his lack of recruiting until the very end. Often inferring they knew better than those rating players.

I give a significant amount. I would paint myself more as one of JJ best supporters bc there are plenty that really like him. But, Im not really an emotional person and I try to think through things logically. Im not gonna cry if JJ retires and we get a promising coach. I also am not going to say silly things like he cant coach.

RE: Fire JJ - Part 56
If Curry, Trice, Ezikpe and Reece all choose not to return, JJ may as well retire immediately. Next year will be another bust without those guys, and we will be stuck with JJ and having the same discussions next year. What is the saying about doing the same thing over and over, but expecting a different result? If those guys don’t return we will 1. Lose to VCU. 2. Not beat a tier 1 team. 3. Have poor shooters but decent defense. 3. Finish lower than 100 but higher than 200. 4. Finish in the top half of CUSA 5. Have somewhere between 18 and 22 wins. 6. Sit at home in March and watch the NCAA or NIT on TV.

So in other words, ODU will have another successful year - by current (recent) standards for the program.

One per year, the tournament champion. The only one to not win a game was the JJ led Monarchs. We'll see how UNT does today.

Let’s see if we are about to see a mass player exodus. Things would sure get interesting if say 4,5 players bolt. We are at just two kinda role guys so far.
