Bolded, that would rule out Archie Miller. And I do think he's capable of producing a tournament team here, some years. But at this point, UC needs more.

Personality wise, I think he's going to need to be someone who embraces our rich tradition and energizes the team and a beleaguered Bearcat fan base. Dantonio's public persona was much like Brannen's in my mind. When Brian Kelly followed him and won big, that's always job #1. But Kelly also brought a big, bold personality and a self-assured attitude bordering on arrogance. It provided an identity for UC football that helped lead our program to unprecedented heights.

To me, that suggests a rising star--as Kelly was, compared with a falling one, on the rebound from a very bad divorce, in this case @ IU.

I think you have a point with all of this, but most candidates who fit the bill already have a high major coaching job. Because our finances don't permit us to pay a premium to get a successful sitting high major coach to make a lateral move, that sort of brings us around to the other options.
