Now that you’ve gone 22-7 and were put on standby by the NIT, you’ve gotta find a way to convince recruits there will be a payoff if they make the move to Birmingham.

He showed a lot of potential as a freshmen and it all just kind of fell apart this year. Im happy our nucleus is staying intact.

Ehsan is apparently the top candidate for the Jacksonville job, I'm betting Jalen, and maybe some others, end up there with him.

I’d bet SEC bound. I feel like Johnson leaving AU is relative to Jones becoming available.

Auburn had Kep Jesper(?), a transfer PG, announced he was going to Auburn...

KJ Buffen from Ole Miss entered portal today...

It's gonna get to the point that after every season 75% of the players hit the portal just to see what is out there and feel the love of recruiting all over again. They need a limit on how many times someone can enter the portal as well

If more schools would revoke scholarships once a player enters the portal it would slow down. Enter the portal your off the team immediately and all financial aid ends at the end of the semester

I have no problem with guys entering the portal as many times as they like. Over time the market will correct itself. The more times you go into the portal, the less interest you'll get.

Of course many of the entrants were asked to leave. If schollys were revoked that would probably identify those players - something coaches don't want to do as to not hurt recruiting.

Good point I was not considering that some are asked to go

I know they have exit interviews at the end of the season, and they basically talk about what they see their future looking like. And the coaches will level with the players, saying, "Look, we don't think you're going to get much playing time, and the reality is you are a hard worker and you deserve to play somewhere, so maybe it would be best if you found someplace else to go."

This kind of thing has been going on long before there was such a thing as a transfer portal, though surely it is going to be more and more prevalent now. I know Coach Bartow, when we "missed" on a recruit and it was obvious he wasn't going to play much, would help him find someplace to transfer to, often on a lower level so he would eligible immediately.

Now there may be some players--and I have some suspicions about a couple from this year--where there are some chemistry issues, and Andy said, very frankly, "This is not working out. Go find another place to play."

Good player, but he’s already turned us down twice. We recruited him out of high school and when he left Memphis.

Think Andy could turn him around. I’d like to have him

I’m with you, but I remember when coach followed players at this time last year, it was damn near a confirmation they’d be playing for us.

He turned down Ehsan, not Kennedy. Plus he may not get another real chance at a big time school.
