Wasn't a lack of interest. He got more money to be an assistant at UofM. Why come to WMU and uproot the family for less money?

Less money = lack of interest.

RE: Murphy out at EMU
Mid-March was such a crazy time last year that I’m not sure what really went down with Saddi, everything was so fluid.

Were we set to offer him a large salary, then COVID happened, forcing us to reduce it to a laughably low offer? In which case, could an EMU swoop in now and offer that larger salary?

I doubt it’ll happen. But that’d be quite a coup.

IMO Washington’s next move will be to P5 head coach.

That would be TWO levels above MAC.

Just a point Saddi doesn't have to uproot his family to take the EMU job.

I can address practice facilities:

EMU has the Convo Center which has underground (lower level) practice court, weight training, nutrition table, etc. (I have been down there when EMU had some skills training).

EMU has the Student Athletic Performance Center which is mostly FB, I think.

What EMU did when the SAPC was constructed was split out FB training from the Convo. As everyone knows, FB rosters can be as high as approximately 100 players.

So getting FB players into their own DEDICATED facility is huge for the other sports (not sharing the same weight training).

I can't speak of other MAC facilities (I've attended game, but not seen training facilities), I would think it would be difficult to have better practice facilities than EMU. Maybe the Pistons, but not MAC schools.

EMU has really nice facilities for FB, hoops, etc. The EMU west campus is first class.

Hell, even the EMU Convo is better than what the Pistons played at 50 years ago, Cobo Arena, a 11k(?) arena with nose bleed seats, way, way up...

(P.S. the 1991 MAC hoops tourney was held at Cobo Arena).

RE: Murphy out at EMU
There are several threads on Murphy, EMU hoops, the next coach, etc. on the EMU forum. That said, EMU has done some really nice things in the last few years like the Student Athletic Performance Center, new health center (with St. Joes hospital system), new engineering program and 'new' building, redone RecIM, etc.

EMU has had for the last 25 or so years a nice campus with maybe the best student union anywhere.

As others have noted, it is close to Ann Arbor for those who wish to take advantage of that city. Pro sports are 30 miles away in Detroit.

As far as Saddi Washington. Last year would have been a terrible time to take a new coaching job, up root family, etc, etc. during the early days of a pandemic.

If Saddi wanted to stay in Washtenaw County and become a MAC head coach, there is an opening for him...

I think he is #1 on our list of preferred candidates. #2 is Tom Izzo who gets marked down because of his brutish behavior this week. Lol. (that was a gratuitous dig at Izzo).
