Really exciting to start seeing the actual building going up.
How far from the heart of campus it this located?
Little less than a mile.
I'm not real familiar with the geography of the campus. Any other campus buildings around that loaction?
short answer, kinda.
long answer. Athletics is the focus of the South Campus, including the new Convocation Center, football stadium, baseball facility, athlete housing, so forth.
Maybe 15-20mins walk from the central campus (student center/library north/library south/bookstore/conference center/fine arts building/multipurpose classroom buildings, etc). A problem is there is a major highway in-between, which can feel disjointed. You have to walk across via a large pedestrian bridge.
Easier to ride the campus shuttles connecting East (rec center/science complexes/current bball arena/library), West (college of business/liberal arts buildings/Aderhold undergrad building/popular eateries along Broad Street), North (college of law, freshman dorms, greek housing, upper classmen dorms and private student apartments, administrative buildings), and South (the new convocation building, football stadium, baseball facility, new student housing, new parking decks, shops and eateries along Georgia Ave.)
IIRC Atlanta Streetcar will also connect from the new South Campus expansion to the current North end of the campus when it's all done. Rode it few times, it's pretty modern and neat.
So, yes it's connected. You can walk if you're trying to fill your 10k steps on Fitbit. Most will use nicely climate controlled shuttles especially during hot summers lol..
