Quote:Appalachian State University has topped the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards’ list of “Top 50 Alma Maters by Total Number of NBCTs” for the fifth consecutive year with 2,178 alumni having earned the national credential.
App cranks out the molders-of-the-future better than any school.

I was class of 83 but didn't get my teaching certification there. I got my National Board Certification back around 2000 and was if memory serves me correctly the 178th person in the country to get Middle Grade History/Social Studies certification. I renewed it ten years later and retired in 2019. It was a real challenge to get that certification and renew it but well worth it both to improve in the profession and as a financial incentive to remain in the classroom rather than going into administration or leave the profession. Hats off the those ASU grads that made it this year. I hope the state is still providing a pay raise for them. I know they were trying to take it away along with master's pay a few years ago.
