RE: College basketball offseason
I've added some more players. Joe Reece of ODU is going to transfer. He was a 2-year starter. And Jailyn Ingram is going to play a 6th year of college basketball after 5 years of starting for Florida Atlantic! You can't really blame him for taking advantage of the NCAA freebie year if you're an FAU fan - Ingram did a lot for the Owls.

RE: College basketball offseason
Verbal Transfers had added a few destinations of recent outgoing transfers. Caleb Byrd is going to Jacksonville State, and Jayce Johnson is going to Siena.

UTEP is getting a transfer in Keith Fisher from Illinois State, a 6-8 grad transfer. But he's one of those guys who has sat out more years (3) than he's played (2). He originally went to San Jose State and played there one year after a redshirt season, then transferred to Illinois State, sitting out a year and playing a year and then not playing this past season.

Caleb Stone-Carrawell has entered the transfer portal from Charlotte. He was a redshirt freshman this season, but didn't get much playing time.

RE: College basketball offseason
For mid-major programs trying to build, losing young guys hurts. The two guys that left Charlotte were potential growth prospects. Byrd in his limited minutes was active on defense, but struggled with his shot. Caleb Stone-Carrawell was a player that had potential, but was also limited in minutes partially because of injury. Both guys were young players and could develop into decent D1 players. I think the teams that are successful are the ones that keep players all 4 years. Charlotte has not done a good job of that in almost a decade. They will continue to struggle if they can't get continuity. I am not a big fan of guys getting 5 ppg or less transferring down from a P5 program, and stealing minutes from a young player either. Once again this has been Charlotte recently. This season Charlotte had a player come in from Dayton where he averaged at best 3.7 ppg in a season. He gets under 8 ppg this season in 32.4 mpg. The coach could have gotten Byrd and CSC to split some of that time and maybe we could have found a better player than a one year guy who averaged 7.8 ppg and 2 turnovers per game. We surely wouldn't have faired much worse with our record.

Monarx meant helps. Reece never lived up to his billing for us. He was a net -0.182 player for us. Its really tough to play for Jeff Jones and put up a 1.019 ppp on defense but a la!

KJ Buffen is transferring to UAB from Ole Miss. He seemed to have a better sophomore season than junior season but he's been a multi-year starter in the SEC.

We'll see who he's replaced with but Reece was developing nicely, not the most consistent offensively but who on our team really is. And I'm not Monarx.

He was developing just fine but he was suggested to transfer. Think this will be a net positive. Removing the negativity of someone who is never happy with their PT no matter how many more minutes they get each year will be good for the rest of the roster.

he was awful this past year. (as supported by my numbers above). He wasn't develping nicely at all. He was not a very good shooter, which he was expected to coming in. He was an ok rebounder but not great. His defense was awful. How exactly was he developing nicely?

And that ignores how drunkard meantioned that he was constantly unhappy and complaining about playing time...while playing 25 minutes per game and shooting poorly.

Women's basketball transfer news from the conference -- the Hayes sisters are on the move again. Anastasia Hayes was 2nd in the country in scoring this past year.

RE: College basketball offseason
There are rumors all over the media about McCasland being a top 5 candidate at both Texas and OU. We knew this was coming eventually. I am concerned that losing McCasland could also impact our roster with that damn transfer portal.

This is why our conference cannot have any sustained success. We are a feeder conference for the $$$ schools. Of course, we all know this already. It is just frustrating. Our team has been successful recently because of Grant's coaching alone. I don't feel our talent level has been quite up to many of the other CUSA teams these last 2 seasons.
