Search Committee For New AD Launched
I didn't want to draw attention when Latrelle tweeted that. Anyway...

I believe the current students who liked it have removed the like. Only a few players--who were seemingly very happy to attend W&M for 4 to 5 years--are standing by that very disappointing post.

I think Latrelle will land at ODU. It is what it is.

RE: Search Committee For New AD Launched
Dropping a couple articles we wrote back in October, outlining 10 choices for W&M's next AD -- seems even more relevant now.

First batch of 5: https://wmsportsblog.com/2020/10/20/who-...-consider/

Second batch of 5: https://wmsportsblog.com/2020/10/27/wms-...ore-names/

Pretty sure we're using their executive search function. Makes sense to have a firm lead that effort.

Collegiate Sports Associates seem like a perfect fit for us on our AD search!

Key members of their team include former UVA AD Craig Littlepage plus Brad Bates former AD at Boston College and OH along with Drew Turner who was at ODU and did fundraising at Duke & SC. Founder and President is Todd Turner.

If you want W&M chained to the CAA, a real CAA boot licker, consider offering Jeff Bourne away from JMU. He is near retirement, a natural fit.

I don't know a ton about Omar Banks, but Campbell has been solidly on the upswing for a while in all sports, they just transitioned to scholarship D1 football after a few years in the Pioneer. Seems like he could have some big upside.

I was just made aware that one of the very qualified candidates from the above 10 individuals will for the second time not get an in person interview. Looks like another PC hire coming our way. My guess it will workout about as good as the last hire. Rots of Ruck W&M.

I don’t know who / what you’re referring to but it I think it reinforces the systemic issues that many people are trying to fight when the reaction to a (presumably) white male not getting to the next stage of something is an “oh no, here comes a PC hire”. Come on!

How can anyone be evaluated right now when we don't know the individuals?

PC hire, small college, anyone...we'll have to wait.

Could not agree more....PC should have nothing to do with this hire.

After looking at the committee...you have got to be kidding me. Most of the people on the first group are the ones who kicked this can down the road for 20 years and that second group is nothing more than an ego stroke to make them feel involved. Respect to Al Albert as a coach and Bob Dwyer but these 2 couldn't raise 20 bucks at a lemonade stand....what do they know about athletics on the administration side....I bet you dollars to donuts they are puppeting Martin like he was a Muppet to do their bidding.

Say what you will about Huge; some warranted, but she went out and got the 50 million for the arena...wonder what will happen with that now that she is gone. I looked over the list of 10 possible ADs presented and wow what a bunch. Henderson, Burke, and Milne wouldn't/shouldn't touch this seat with a 10ft pole. I guarantee they are being looked at by other programs whose campus administration didn't just try to throw their previous AD under the bus after telling her and her team to cut sports. The athletics world is not too big to see what happened here and the candidate we end up with probably was on an island of misfit toys wishing to be a dentist. No self respecting candidate with a future in D1 will touch this.

But that's just my opinion.

Wow!! I for one am speechless. But then I saw who you root for and concluded that in your case we are really going to need to grade on the curve!!

What do you know a WM person who thinks they are the smartest person in the room...I bet you tell people you like foreign movies that no one else has seen. You should get off your high horse and realize it ain't what it used to be. I live in Williamsburg and enjoy going to bball....I don't think ODU is skating on D1 thin ice and I really hope you all don't go D3 in the next few years. I love college sports at all levels and enjoy chatting with people at WM home games but who you got running this thing and who is on those committees is like watching 2 monkeys h*mp a football...kinda funny at first but a bit gross to everyone else watching. The sport cutting plan should have been simple like my brother in-law Jeff but at least Jeff works.

Oh 75 doesn't think he's the smartest person in the room, he just thinks you're the dumbest...

Yep, I was trying to add a little levity to the situation. I think that guy from Marshall ( was his name Thunders?) has changed his user name and has come back to visit after all these years. Sounds like somebody needs some ice cream and cake.

On the actual topic of this thread, I still think Omar Banks from Campbell would be a great hire. I wonder if we'll get a shortlist of candidates at some point?

I enjoy the decision to censor "hump" so no one would be offended.
