Will continue to root for Wojo at whatever his next stop may be, and am very thankful for the wonderful representation he gave Marquette as head coach. He really gave it is all and, for various reasons, never clicked consistently enough to return us to that high level competition. We had stretches and flashes, but, unfortunately, we always ended up crashing (and, in many cases, getting embarrassed in postseason play, whether that was the NCAAT or BET).

Bottom line, Wojo graduated his players, brought in tremendous (cannot stress this enough) young men to be part of our school, and also allowed his assistants to become head coaches (he has had three - Nelson, Johnson and Killings, which is one of the top numbers in the country over the past few years). He is more than deserving to be a head coach for another program, but am hopeful it is the right fit for him and his family. I would hope he can return to Duke as an assistant (especially if Scheyer leaves), build up his reputation again and make another go of it.

For MU, it sounds like our athletic department has already had a few standing head coaches reach out through intermediaries to express interest. We are much more prepared than in 2014. Although Buzz routinely talked and interviewed with other schools, we had identified one, and really only one candidate (not Wojo) that we put the full court press on. That deal was very, very close, but fell apart at the last minute. After that, we went into scramble mode. Wojo's interview, which went incredibly well, didn't really have any competition from other serious candidates.

So funny that the candidate in question (from 2014) was Shaka. Today, Shaka gets hired at Marquette. Life sometimes comes full circle.
