The Bobcats from the MAC!, pull it off.

The MAC Tournament Champs look tougher than Creighton. I expect another victory.

Go do the MAC proud and get that Sweet 16 bid.

How many recent first round wins do MAC teams have? It’s an underrated league. Should get two teams in the NCAA’s every once in a while.
The MAC used to occasionally get 2 teams in. Then big $ decided that 9 Big 10 teams were needed instead.

Very nice win, which I had to leave near the end of the first half. Preston looked good, but Virginia had just hit I believe 3 3's to open up a double digit lead. Must have finished the first half strong and continued. CONGRATS CATS!!! Now be nice to our women on Monday.

What they have had the last two times they went to the tournament were some fantastic draws. More importantly THEY TOOK ADVANTAGE BOTH TIMES.

Virginia had a ton of issues; wasn't physical, struggled to score over 70 points, 3-point dominant, could not practice for a week due to Covid ... not cleared to play until after midnight Friday .... Even without that OU was good enough to beat Virginia. With all those obstacles, really should have been favored. The key, however, was they should have beaten them, and did as they should have.

How many MAC teams in a comparable position have/would have folded??

2012, however, may be the all-time best MAC draw (Michigan). Half of the MAC that year would have beaten Michigan in the opening round. That teams was devoid of athleticism and had no bench. In Rd 2 OU caught an upset winner Rd 1 like themselves (South Florida) that was good on defense but struggled to score.

Creighton will be a much tougher matchup than S. Florida, but this OU team is better than 2012 IMO so I think it has a solid chance to advance to the Sweet 16...

Another Sweet 16 run for the MAC (Buffalo 2018) would be something to see.

On a strictly Bobcat note ... perhaps they should make sure to finish 5th in the MAC every year (as they did in 2012 and 2021).

Sounds a lot like what Ohio had to deal with heading into the MAC tournament.

Ohio earned the MAC an extra share of the NCAA basketball tourney money. I believe it is $338K per year for six years.

MAC gets one of these shares for each GAME it plays. So far, the MAC is entitled to two shares, one for the UVa game and another for the next game.

Other conferences getting some unexpected monies are the MEAC and SWAC, each of which won their play-in games.

Yes, the MAC will have at least eight shares of the 2021 distribution ... 9 if Ohio makes the Sweet 16. And that is locked in as the floor for 2022 and 2023 as well, since 2016 and 2017 are one and done's that will be replaced by whatever happens in 2022 and 2023.

Mind, there are fewer shares this year, because nobody earned a share in 2020 (last year's total 225m distribution came from the 270m insurance policy payout), but also there will be lower revenues this year, because of capacity limits at venues.

How many wins do the MAC have the last 6 years? (these mean extra game or games and shares. One share per game played).

OU - 2021,

N/A - 2020

UB - 2019

UB - 2018

--- - 2017

--- - 2016

So as I understand it, the MAC NEXT year gets 4 shares (assuming Ohio does not continue to win): One automatic, plus 3 shares for OU (2021), UB (2019), UB (2018).

Don't know how they will handle 2020. Ignore it and go back to 2015????

You get shares for games PLAYED, not games won. So: 2018 (3) 2019 (2), 2021 (so far 2). 2016 (1) 2017 (1) = 9 shares so far since 2016.
