We made a run at him and he turned us down cold. For the 100th time, Pastner needed to go, but it is crazy how fans don't understand that making the tournament 4 years in a row and winning two games is at least somewhat of an accomplishment.

IU hasn't been the same since Knight became obsolete due to a liberal culture deteriorating into a cesspool of snowflakes, and was crucified. Mike Davis wasn't as bad as they thought he just happened to follow Knight. Creen missed the NCAA 5 of 9 years but had 3 sweet 16 and finals years.

Miller got paid and will get another good job but learned as many have, the big time can be a tough time.

Bring him back.
It's time.

I was thinking he was run off from there because of some shady dealings (improper telephone contacts or something like that).

Indiana deserves every thing that comes their way..

The problem with Indiana and a lot of these institutions is that they live in the past, thinking they history and the name will recruit for them.

These kids nowadays don't care about your banners and history. They want to be on TV and make the tournament and the NBA.
They can do that just as well at Dayton and Butler as they can at Indiana.
West Coast kids can do that just as well at San Diego State and Gonzaga as they can at UCLA.

When we were both going after Derrick Rose, I was laughing at Indiana fans, telling them how ugly their uniforms are and how stupid the clown warmup pants, look. That was 14 years ago.

Quote:On June 22, 2007, Indiana University trustees approved the demolition of the Assembly Hall and the construction of a new basketball arena "when appropriate". Populous was hired to assess the benefits of renovating or replacing the Assembly Hall. The trustees decided against renovating the stadium for $115 million because construction of a new arena would cost $130 million. This idea was scrapped due to the University changing course and opting to renovate Assembly Hall.

Their arena is an antiquated, charmless dump. They have tons of money, but instead of building something new, they spent $40 million on renovating it in 2015. To Indiana fans, their uniforms, pants and arena are cool. To everyone else, they suck ass. Things don't move too fast in Indiana.

I don’t know about Pitino at IU. They already got burned by Samson, who came there from Oklahoma - with a cloud over him about recruiting violations (impermissible contacts?). Then he went on to get them in trouble with the same actions. Do you think they would give Pitino a chance, given his track record with the NCAA? 05-nono

He was fired when the school went on probation - mid season.
His interim replacement? Good old Dan Dakich.
It was a joke. They wouldn't hire him. And I'm not sure Sampson is leaving Houston, unless it's a can't lose situation.

I’m starting to wonder if Indiana is just not a good job anymore.

It's kind of smelling a lot like Nebraska in football, isn't it?

Apt comparison.

Probably like Duke will be in basketball once K retires.

The only person that went mental was the school president

You are actually correct about this if a recent guest on ESPU radio is to be believed. Don't remember who it was but someone who had been at IU during their decline. He indicated that the school president & their board had agreed that men's basketball needed to be "deemphasized", that it was too much the focus st the university. And so it was, and IU is now the result. The interview was with Rick Neuheiser who related a similar decision at UCLA football when they announced him as their new coach "to restore UCLA" football in their PR while reducing funding support at the same time.
