Never fails,it’s fun to be constantly in your minds even we stink to high heaven.
That isn’t me, I just saw that on twitter lol. Not trying to be toxic but I think we had emore people at our open scrimmage today than y’all had at your spring game.

Frankly I was more interested in how the players looked on the field than how many fans showed in 90 degree whether at noon during a pandemic.

But hey if that’s what some of your fan base wants to focus on, be my guess I just find it kind of pathetic, specially since we are down and so many of your fans think you are so far ahead. The constant focus on USF tells me a lot about your fan base insecurity
Oh get off your high horse, you guys would do the exact same thing.
I have said my peace. Carry On.

RE: 2021 Spring Football Practice
For those interested in more recap of the USF Spring Game.

One of biggest questions going in was the QB position were we struggled last year and ZmcCloud transferred out.
All looked as better options, right now I will say
1. Cade Fortin looked very good and will probably start. He transferred from UNC last year but was hurt most of season.
2. Williams the transfer from Miami, has his moments but he was slower in releasing ball and seemed more tentative. That might change as season progresses and he becomes more used to the offense. But right now would be back up.
3. Marsh, who played some as a freshman last year. Looked much better in running offense, best arm and had some very nice deep passes. More mobile than last year. I think as a passer he looked best. Will play and might move up if starter struggles.
4. McLain the highly rated freshmen QB. Was very elusive and looked good at running the offense. Reminded a lot of Flowers. Best all around QB. Could move up

Overall all 4 looked better than our starter last year McCloud and easy to see why he transferred.

That’s the QB report

Not the first time the Admiral Mack award has been mentioned on this board.
Some time around August '16, everyone was predicting that Navy's success would disappear with Keenan Reynolds' graduation. I said that not only were we all bullish on Tago Smith, but the #2 had won the Admiral Mack award in the previous Spring of 2015. That #2 was Will Worth and he would step up to lead Navy to the CCG.

Navy, I have always had high admiration for the Annapolis Student Athletes because I grew up hearing first hand accounts of their challenges. This is impressive I do not think others will understand how impressive. They have nothing to compare it to.

I am excited for the day that Navy beats ND again. Hopefully sooner than later.

4x, thanks.
I am a strong supporter of Navy sports because they play an integral role in the institution's mission "To develop Midshipmen morally, mentally, and physically..." The lessons learned on the fields of friendly strife can benefit the 1/4 of the Brigade who compete in 33 varsity intercollegiate sports, plus club sports competing at high levels (rugby and hockey of note, and we have a recent club softball national championship,, as examples). And those athletes have the same courseloads and for the most part all the other obligations of other Midshipmen. Yes, they get out of marching and some other stuff in season, but that is offset by the requirements of being a Division I athlete. I was an intramural warrior myself, but among my roommates over four years count a wrestler, a basketball player, a varsity offshore sailor, and a member of the rifle team.
If the pendulum swings to special treatment, morale for the rest can sink (at West Point this year a portion of the Corps of Cadets was cheering for Georgia Southern on CBSSN because of some events that created that perception). I don't see any indications that's occuring at present at Navy.
As for football specifically, competing at the highest level pays for those other 32 sports. USNA won't willingly do anything like a "G5 playoff" that would hurt the physical mission aspects the Academy.

My father told me that everyone had to participate in sport even if it was intermural. He tried out for swimming but was blown out of the water by the kids from Cali and Florida. Ended up in Gymnastics. Number on in the nation in floor exercise and trampoline. So... head cheer leader (he was told he volunteered) when Bollino sp? won the Heisman and got to travel with the team. I grew up listening to parade band music on the reel to reel every weekend.

I lost an eye at 14 so they would not take me. I tried, they chuckled and said no way kid.

Thanks for sharing that.
Joe Bellino's #27 is marked on the 27-yard lines at NMCMS since his passing in spring of 2019. At least one poster on the Navy board (elsewhere) asserts je was an even better baseball player than football.
His son was a couple years agead of me - was my squad leader one semester. He was a high level lacrosse recruit...his classmates told the story of the plebe summer introduction to squash - the squash coach was making the point that squash was a demanding sport and issued a challenge - John picked up a squash racquet for the first time and took him to the wire. We ended up in the same smallish career field, and I was happy to cross paths with him again shortly before he retired from a 30-year (mostly Reserves) career.
I had a classmate/company mate who was a gymnast. Gymnastics is still a PE requirement for all midshipmen. EDITED - looks like gymnastics is no longer a core PE requirement. That's a shame.
Navy gymnastics just took #11 at NCAAs.

That's a really nice starting position (if Steele's projection proves accurate).
I see six matchups between the teams ahead of Cincinnati, so Ls and chance to move up.

October 2nd could be HUGE.
Edit - forget my "week later" comment, got confused

(And I hope Cincinnati is exhausted a week later)

If we can hold serve through the Indiana game we will have two weeks to prepare for the Irish. That could be one of the bigger non-conference games of the season. Not to mention UC is playing against our former head coach, former DC, a former player and assistant defensive coach and we have the former ND OC/AHC. Oh the ties that bind...

RE: 2021 Spring Football Practice

47+ minutes of Coach Niumat talking to the press post-spring practice.

Compared the team overall to 2019
Very optimistic about the O-Line.
Even with QB1 not decided, compared the three guys at the top of the depth chart to Malcolm/Keenan, to Will Worth, and to Ricky Dobbs.
Practicing against DC Newberry's defense (called him a mad scientist) good for the line and the qbs.
D returning a lot.

One more summer training pic to get the Surface Navy in there.
