I gotta wear shades
Friday, March 12, 2021
The Memphis Tigers take care of business against an over matched UCF team advancing to the semi-finals of the AAC tournament 88-73 led by Nolley's 23 pts, Cisse's 10-10 double-double and 7 assists by Quinones.

Saturday, March 13
After a heart breaking loss just a week prior, Memphis hangs on to a second half lead and defeats the #10 Houston Cougars 66-61, behind Boogie Ellis' 24 pts and 5 assists. Dandridge and Williams both get 10 rebounds.

Sunday March 14
A match-up between 2 exhausted teams, Memphis beats SMU 61-57 with superior depth. No players in double figures, Alex Lomax gets 7 pts and 6 assists.

Thursday March 18
The 12 seed Tigers continue the 12 seed tradition by handling Colorado easily 77-64. Memphis' full court pressure rattled the Buffaloes early and Colorado could never get back in the game.

Saturday March 20
Old memories for Coach Hardaway were brightened, at least a little, when the Tigers take down the Bearcats...I mean the Mountaineers...against an old foe in Bobby Huggins 71-66, rebounding and defense kept the Tigers in the game in the first half and a surprising 78% from the line won the game late.

Thursday March 25
Sweet Sixteen BABY! Memphis Tigers vs #1 seed Illinois. One shining moment goes our way for a change. 67% from 3 and a smothering defense, especially by Quinones on Dosunmu, give the Tigers the biggest upset so far 92-88.

Saturday March 27
Memphis vs #3 seed Kansas. Another ghost exorcised tonight as the Tigers breeze past an injury depleted Kansas squad missing 91-79

Saturday April 3
Its not UCLA or Duke or Kentucky who the Tigers are pitted against in the final four, but the G#$%#d*^%mn Houston Cougars. But Memphis seems to be unstoppable. Sampson has to watch the game from the locker room after 2 technicals as Quinones once again locks down their opponents biggest threat. Memphis 58 Houston 52

Monday April 5
We're back, the NCAA finals, Memphis 4th final four appearance and 3rd finals. It don't even matter who we play now, but we got Alabama and we can't seem to do anything right. Halftime score Alabama 36, Memphis 22. Its ugly, but Alabama has a little foul trouble, our defense never stops and the 3 ball starts falling. Down by 4 with 1:23 to go, Cisse breaks away for a slam off a pass by Williams. 67-65. Alabama gets a long rebound and clanks a wide open 3. Tiger ball 1:01. Lomax dribbles into the paint trying to get an alley oop to Williams, but has to dish it out for a corner 3 by D J Jefferies.. 68-67 Tigers. Alabama gets fouled on a drive and goes to the line for 2 shots. 68-68. Second free throw misses, rebounded by Quinones, ahead to Alo who dribbles in, fakes the pass and hits the 5 foot jumper. 70-68, 0:21 Boogies steals the inbound, shuffles it out to Quinones for Threeeeeeeeeeeeee. 73-68. Alabama hits a three as time runs out. TIGERS WIN 73-71.

RE: I gotta wear shades
I'd rather go through Louisville and Tennessee. If we play a #1 seed--I think we'd be best against Baylor; we've been really good at defending the 3-point line this year.

Gonzaga can only be stopped by COVID. I don't see anyone else beating them.

byu gave them a good game the other night. I don't think they will win it all. They played a few good teams early but not really battle tested.

Yeah, Gonzaga only beat Kansas by 12, then beat Iowa, WV, and scraped by Virginia, 98-75. Haven't really played anyone...

That was exactly what they said about us in 2008. Can't really do much about your conference schedule. Besides BYU is solidly in the tournament around a 7 seed.

Those games were earlier in the season like I said. Have they played enough tough team lately? Not really. Will they be sharp when the time comes? We'll see.

Not arguing with your chronology, rather I'm suggesting that your categorization of Gonzaga's opponents as "a few good teams" is a little off. As for "battle tested" maybe take a look at some of the final score margins - I don't think they have any problem finishing strong.

But this year, who knows?
