Novavax phase 3. 96.4% efficacy original strain, 48.6% S. A. variant, 100% no severe
Not great at protecting against the South African variant for mild disease but excellent otherwise. (Note that the South African population is 20% HIV positive) As with all the other vaccines thus far 100% against severe disease and death. So another great candidate in my opinion.

Eh, all virus mutate. This it to be expected. Not sure why EVERY SINGLE new strain is somehow national news. I guess the MSM needs the eyeballs and fear sells. Anyway, is it a cause for concern, sure, but definitley not a cause for panic as every headline seems to scream. Pretty sure there will be boosters, etc just as with the regular flu virus.

As I am pretty sure it's all fear mongering.

The only thing that should really matter is effectiveness against hospitalization and death. Getting sick is a part of life. Just an inconvenience as long as it doesn't kill you.

My concern is the evidence of long term disability due to contraction of this. I know a girl that still has mono type symptoms and no taste or smell after 3 months of recovery. I simply don't want this thing...period.

It's not a strain dumb*** it's a variant.
Let's perform a fact check on who thr actual dumb*** is:
The variant first detected last fall in South Africa has now been reported in several countries. The CDC says that in the United States, 81 cases have been found in 20 states.
More than 3,000 cases of the UK variant have been found in the U.S., with every state except Vermont, South Dakota, and Oklahoma reporting cases as of March 8, the CDC says. Health experts say it may soon become the dominant coronavirus strain in the country.
Researchers acknowledged the sample size was small and it’s not fully known how the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will work in real life against the South African variant. Both companies have said they’re developing booster shots targeted for the South African variant.

It was clearly designed with the intent of many variants and long lasting after effects in some people.
