Compare and contrast why you liked one over other. I loved that Montgomery came from an established program. He had a long term mentor. Bruno don’t know as much. Has local ties. What are your thoughts?
FYI.
It's Burno.
But, Frazier also said "Bruno" the other day in the press conference too so....
Haha Burno had to correct his new boss during the press conference.
I like the hunger. Sounds like he wants to prove he can turn things around. Never got that vibe that Montgomery was trying to do that. Honestly felt like Montgomery was trying to be a Spartan in Huskie uniform. Just my opinion. Sometimes these coaches from big programs can get comfortable in their past accomplishments.
A couple of things stood out to me and I fully acknowledge it's not fair to make personality conclusions based on such a small sample size.
But..Burno comes off as a few things.
First, I felt he looked nervous. Understandable and maybe its a good thing. But he wasn't as articulate as I'm sure he'd have preferred to be. Just sounded nervous like he was struggling for some words at times.
Second, he seemed pretty intense. Since, I suppose, we're comparing him to Montgomery, Monty was a loose guy who liked to come off like he was shooting the **** with you all the time. Burno seems like the opposite. He seems like he's laser focused and maybe isn't the most jocular.
Finally, he seems like he cares and carries himself like a mentor. One of the things he told the team was, "I didn't recruit you, but you're my guys now". It's short and to the point. It's also a bit brutal but also comforting. It doesn't get more blunt than that and it's 100% honest. They AREN'T his guys, but he's telling them he accepts them as his own. He's not bullshitting them and ignoring the fact that he inherited them.
It'll be interesting to see it play out.
