Lunardi's NCAA Bracketology 03/09/2021
Memphis moved a few notches, still in the "Next Four Out".
SMU is behind Memphis a couple of notches in the "Next Four Out".

Wichita State is 12th seed in Region 4.
Houston is 2nd seed in Region 3.

Wonder what time that bracketology was posted today. On ESPN's bottom line as of 6:00pm tonight, they were running it showing Memphis as team #4 of the First 4 Out group.

Movin' on UP. LET'S GOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe I'm living in a world where Houston is a 2 seed, WSU is a virtual lock, and we're not in

Our championship game is so late. I must assume that if we get to the finals and play against WSU, that we will be playing for that 12 slot they've currently got WSU in.

It was the world before this world when we lost to WKU, VCU and crappy Tulsa...twice.

True, but take a look at who WSU has beaten: Houston (great win) and at Ole Miss (SEC win). That's it.

Also, two of WSU's 15 wins are not against Div I opponents. I like the Shockers & live in Wichita, but the numbers don't lie. They're ranked a ways below us in most cases.

Not saying WSU doesn't deserve a bid - but if they're "in" by most predictions, we should be a lot closer to in than currently polling. But I'm biased.

Nah if that happens we're both in. Winner likely gets a 10 or 11. Loser probably a 12 seed play-in game.

Decent chance we get 3 bids. Also decent chance we get only 1. SMU/HOU final with the Cougars winning makes AAC a one bid league.

Don't think WSU makes the final...But I still think the AAC squeezes 2 in...

Houston and at least one of SMU, WSU or Us. Unless someone other than SMU or WSU makes the final against Houston.

We aren't in unless we beat Houston in the semis. And then, we can't turn around and lose to Wichita, SMU or anybody else in the finals.

So, we have to win the AACT to get in.

Yeah, I think so, too. But it IS something this team can do!

I agree with this.
I think they already have (and have for some time) 2 slots for the AAC. Whoever finishes strongest between us, Wichita, and SMU get that slot.
I think it's still very much in the air between us 3.
It would really have to fall apart for us to get only 1 bid.
And if Memphis/Wichita make the finals there's still a scenario where we get all 3 teams in - depending on how the bubble bursts in other leagues.

We have to beat Houston.
There's still a slim chance we could lose to Wichita in a close final, and get in.
We would need many other bubble teams to fall apart to do so.

I don't think so. We have too many losses where we were the favorite (5, iirc), and I bet we would be favored vs. the Wheaters on a neutral court, after beating them by 20 at our place. Even now, we have a higher NET than WSU.

And losing the last game to a team you are favored to beat (again) is a sure way for a bubble team to lose its chance.

Do you think WSU gets in if we win the tourney?

If we beat Houston Neutral...We would be ahead of them in every metric and have our quad one win...I like our resume better than theirs if we beat Houston.

1 of Utah St/ Col St will lose by the end of Friday night guaranteed. Both are ahead of us right now. Pretty good chance that Duke & Syracuse both lose today. Boise in a 4/5 game today with Nevada is no gimme for them either.

Just win tomorrow night, move on to Saturday, and let the chips falls where they may.
