Houston couldn’t attract any decent player for a long long time till we signed coach Sampson... Perhaps going after a proven head coach first and than provide him with all necessary tools $$$... It worked for Houston.
How much would you realistically need to offer to get a "proven" HC to come to ECU?
nothing crazy... there are lots of retread looking for work, north carolina recruiting grounds in a multiple bid league with no long term established power... i don't think itll be about money but taking a chance on someone that might have so showcauses on record or a scandal on his name (gregg marshall & sean miller are some examples.. and i dont think they'll be that expensive)
sdsu pre fisher was very pretty similar to ecu now... finding a proven head coach i dont see as impossible or too expensive...the money to give him a real chance at success is what might be expensive... give him practice facility, upgraded arena, give him money to travel on jets to recruit, etc..
i would love to see gregg marshall in the aac again. make it happen ecu.
Actually that’s not a bad idea... I even think Marshall would consider any AAC opening just to take a shot at beating Wichita State.
I think Marshall will consider going to ECU but only if ECU decision makers step aside and lets Marshall take full control of the basketball program.

Miller Kopp to IU. I know he was someone Houston fans though was a target.
Tari Eason is apparently deciding today. This could be a rather significant pivot point for UC's upcoming season.

No administration will give carte blanche to a coach with Marshall’s issues.

No, but with his issues if he wants to be a HC again he’s gonna have trouble issuing a bunch of control demands. He’d be my top choice no doubt after we finally are done with Dooley, but I think our administration would rather continue losing that take the PR hit for hiring him. At this point at ECU to fix this you are either gonna have to hire this type of coach or just flat out get lucky and the really good up and comers won’t come here. It’s a great job if you want a nice retirement package, as we’ll pretty much give you forever with no pressure and pay not amazing but about 1 million a year.

a potential move for memphis ... would put memphis in the title convo
simple comp; he is basically kendric davis
former 4star from Houston... Elite level ball handler, elite level passer, extremely quick..
give him the ball put nolley, williams, lester, timberlake around him.. that could be magic

I have a hunch this is the guy Penny is looking at. I have no info, but I bet Penny is in this guys ear.

Yeah LSU had been a rumor for the last week or so. It's tough to bet against Will Wade!
Now we need to somehow piece together an entire front court...

It's why I was hoping to keep Vogt for one year. They have nothing as far as front court players. Huge huge roster hole.

Disappointing not to retain Eason. Had potential. Such a weird recruitment. UC & Washington seemed to make the most sense, then he decides on LSU. Probably par for the course anytime LSU is involved with a recruit though given Will Wade's history.
So many minutes available down low for us. Need to be aggressive on the guys that are left in the portal that are fits for this level.
