Logan Duncomb, a top 75 C, is signed with IU and he played in HS with Jeremiah Davenport at Moeller in Cincinnati. Brannen also heavily recruited their two top 150 freshman wings (Leal and Galloway) and finished in 2nd for their top 100 2022 commit (CJ Gunn). This is going to be a wild few weeks.

it begins

His high school teammate (and I think close friend) Jahlil White came here, and I would imagine we'd be a top contender if he hit the portal. He'd be a day one contributor.

if he went in the portal, temple could land him...the problem is why would temple want him?
he was a 3star with a moderate offer list, who is deep bench at another school, and while wvu is good, they arent some 5 star roster- their 3 starting guards- juco. juco, 3star

there are numerous all-conference players already in the portal, numerous 4stars (like battle)..if you are going the transfer route, you go proven commodity or high ceiling...

But Battle himself was deep bench at another school (Butler), and he was anything but a proven commodity, yet look what he has done...

Temple was very interested in Thweatt, and McKie seems to have an uncanny knack for spotting diamonds in the rough.

For example, Damian Dunn, a very unheralded recruit who made the all-AAC freshman team; relatively unheralded recruit Jeremiah Williams who had a remarkably productive freshman year; and incoming freshman Hysier Miller, who appears to be one of the top guards coming out of Philly.

How many 6'5-6'8 wings does Memphis need? Nolley, Jeffries, Lester, Jordan Nesbitt, Josh Minott, etc. Brannen should be all over Fletcher but crickets thus far. We have massive holes at the 3 and the 5 and all I've seen so far is cursory interest in 6'1 guards that can't shoot.

battle was a top 100 4star...
Thweatt was a low 3star...

also im all for unheralded recruits rising to stardom...but those unherladed recruits have to chose you out of high school...

they cant chose somewhere else flop and think temple they rejected will come and save them..
elite recruits have different privileges... when recruiting them in high school you arent giving them a chance they are giving you a chance

I think that is Pennys plan. I think in a perfect world his lineup would all be over 6’3-6’4 and completely switchable.

After all of the recruits Chris Mack has gotten over his best friend John Brannen, I'd love for him to throw UC a bone here...

@jeffborzello
Northeastern transfer Tyson Walker has heard from:
E. Carolina
First-team All-CAA. 18.8 PPG, 4.8 APG.

-- ecu doesnt have a major chance (about 40 other majors involved here)-- but its telling to see ecu actively recruiting tons of transfers despite no ships

dooley looking like he is going to implode the roster, even taking some role players in that implosion

edit will add this one too

Cincy offered him out of HS and he grew up 4 hours away.

Don't think he ends up there though.

UCF needs a center, and probably a couple more wings.

UC has met with Au'diese Toney, Jamison Battle and will meet with Cam'Ron Fletcher today. Need 2 big wings ideally.

Wow - good for him. Having lived the full David Collins experience for 4 years, I'd love to see him go somewhere else and see if he responds to different coaching. He clearly didn't develop in terms of basketball IQ, and in fact regressed in many ways even though he led the team in scoring each season. His freshman year he was a 49.7% shooter from the floor, 41.7% from three and 71.7% from the line. This season those numbers were 42%, 37.3% and 55.6% respectively. If that came with a corresponding increase in assists/game (he took over some PG duties after Rideau graduated last year) it would be one thing, but he only went up to 3.4 APG from 3.1 his sophomore year.

As for the intraconference thing - Jahmal McMurray transferred from USF to SMU during Orlando Antigua's last season, so it's not like we're not used to watching our former players leave and then play against us.

Good luck on your next stop, DC! I'll be rooting for you!

Ok
Temple wants Thweatt because his skill-set strengthens it’s weak front-court.
