PFFFFT. <doink>

Well, it is March, & KSU came in like a [paper] lion & definitely went out like a lamb (slaughtered nonetheless). Using the pandemic as an excuse doesn't fly since every other team is going through the same thing.

DP was just another fart in the wind for KSU basketball. Though glad DP earned his degree & hopefully will find his way in society.

Coach Sendy will get another chance to knit a silk purse out of a sow's ear for next season. That's KSU basketball.

Yes - wasn't a season to garner great interest with all the distractions and not chance to watch a team of strangers play before a live audience. We were picked 5th so we performed as expected by what those who are supposed to be in the know - could have possibly been better with Nuga. Similar to the year we lost Pollard to injury. 01-wingedeagle

See SEC football teams with horrible records that went to bowl games, the rich get richer.

It sucks but is not surprising at all. That is the way most fans want it, and most sports media types. There was no doubt in my mind that as the NCAA started to increase the field beyond 25 that the bulk of the extra teams would come from a handful on conferences. I recall that there was no certainty at all that Kent's State's 1999, 2001 and even 2002 teams would make it as at large teams. I used to be one of those people that followed the NCAA tournament religiously and watched as much of it as I could. But I lost interest many years ago and really only watch MAC teams in it.

The MAC ended up getting two teams (Toledo and Buffalo) in the NIT despite it being cut to 16 teams. We'll see if any MAC teams get offered to go to the CBI but I have a hard time believing any would go since it's a 'pay to play' tournament.

Muskrat - I'm with you here regarding the "Dance". It sort of started in the 70s when NC and some other teams lost in their conference tournaments and were in danger of missing the the "Dance". For a time I sat on the athletic committee of a school that was Div 1AA in all sports except hoops where they were Div 1A. It was clear at the national NCAA meetings that the big boys wanted to restrict the tournament to schools that were Div !A in all sports. You could imagine that would eliminate a lot of competition from conferences like the Yankee, Big Sky or Summit and some independents like Marquette. Fortunately those folks haven't succeeded but by expanding the field they've accomplished getting a bigger part of the pie. I think it's ridiculous that in the end two Big Ten or ACC team could end up playing for the fourth time in a season.

They aren’t announcing the bracket until tomorrow. I bet more than a few teams have turned them down. Washington St. is one that went public with it.

Part of me agrees. However if all 360 were allowed in what do you think the field would look like when they played down to 64 teams. I guess pretty much the same except for the small conference champions would be gone and replaced by even more of the big boys.

Burden, I agree about what the final 64 would look like if all teams were in. Actually though, I think the final 32 would be much more similar. And there would be fewer Cinderella teams in the final 16, as those types of underdogs would have to win even more games to get there. My only gripe is that some conferences send way too many teams, and too few good mid-majors get in.
