Let’s talk softball
Today South went into #2 Alabama and came out with a 1-0 victory. We are currently 10-7 with split on opening weeekend with #14 Georgia.

We are up and down so far this season. But we obviously have the talent, just got to get the consistency.

It wasn't top flight competition, but App went 4-0 this weekend against NC A&T and NC Central, winning 15-1, 8-0, 8-4, and 17-0. Now 10-4 on the year.

Our softball team is actually pretty good, but its a club sport and not a scholarship sport, so it means absolutely nothing.

Alabama is now 19-1. I’m just glad to see South Alabama Softball with a pulse again, capable of beating good teams. I’d love to see us in a regional again. It’s been too long.

I sure wish Troy could've beaten Alabama. We lost to them 2-0... held Alabama to only 2 hits, but they were able to score on a throwing error.

I'm glad we have wins over Ole Miss and North Carolina at least... they're both turning out to be quality wins.

Based off of everyone's schedule/results so far, I'm guessing Louisiana, Texas State, USA, and Troy will have some pretty nice RPI's.

We have Ole Miss Wednesday before starting conference play this weekend.

Cajuns get a breather until Saturday when they host Ga Southern for three (DH on Saturday, single game on Sunday). The weather predictions seem to be improving with 20% on Saturday & 30% on Sunday. Earlier it was 40% & 50%.

Next week will be a double header against Texas at home and UTA on the road.

Hearing the Cajuns series this weekend vs GA Southern will be a COVID casualty.

RE: Let’s talk softball
FWIW AState Chancellor said starting softball was part of the new AD’s mandate.

Bowen in his first radio interview talked about the process and said he didn’t want a stadium that just met minimums but one suitable to host NCAA tournament.

Said the existing club team was a big plus. They’ve won one college club national title and were runner ups for another.

I got the impression he hopes to do softball the way USA did football using the club team be the foundation before moving into Division I completion.

Supposedly the Administrations primary concern right now is fixing baseball and starting softball. It makes sense in that its pretty easy to do both at the same time. However, if we take this approach, it probably means a longer period in fixing basketball, which might not go over well with our fanbase.

ULM, preseason predicted 9th place finisher in the SBC, takes the series over predicted 4th place Coastal two games to one.
