Congrats to the women. There are some good teams in there, but I really don't see why we wouldn't be one of the top seeds.

I think a really good goal would be 2 wins to keep the 20-win season streak going. Well, an even better goal would to be win our 2nd national postseason tournament. But first things first.

Looks like a great field and more competitive than when we previously played in the WNIT.

RE: Rice WBB in the WNIT
Supposedly (according to ESPN's Charlie Creme), the first four teams out for the NCAA tournament were Houston, DePaul, Notre Dame and Oklahoma. Houston and DePaul are in the WNIT (Notre Dame and Oklahoma are not). From what I understand, if a team drops out of the NCAA tournament due to Covid (unlikely but who knows), one of those four teams would be the replacement (unless it's a team from a 1-bid league in which case another team from that league replaces them).

So you could have a scenario where Houston and/or DePaul drops out of the WNIT to play in the NCAA's at the last moment. Or even more bizarre, they could play 1 or even 2 NIT games (since they are 3/19 and 3/20, and the NCAA's don't start until 3/21), and then even at an even later last moment, switch over to the San Antonio venues.

It's very unlikely, but it's a fun scenario to keep track of I guess.

FBO -

“ Replacement teams will only be introduced into the championship within 48 hours after the announcement of the field, and at no time thereafter.”

Wednesday is 48 hours and is March 17. Thus, your scenario may be hypothetically not possible due to the NCAA rules which are similar for MBB & WBB.

Gotcha - good to know.

One other WNIT tidbit, all teams in the field play a guarantee of 2 games. So I'll assume that means you play Friday and Saturday (you'd have to guess that means 1st round winners meet and then 1st round losers meet in games that really will be after-thoughts).

Nope. Berman tweeted that UH gets into the NCAA tourney only if a team has to drop out due to COVID within the next 48 hours. After that any team that drops out forfeits the game.

BTW the Fort Worth games are at the Wilkerson-Greines Activities Center, which sounds like a nice high school facility they have out there. I'm not sure if people can attend the games or not.

That's one tough bracket.

ASU may be 11-10, but that's only because they played a killer schedule, even OOC. They have a number of quality wins (VCU, San Diego, USC, Arizona, Utah) and played both UCLA and Stanford close. Of course, they're only 1-5 on the road.

Seems like no tickets for general public. A limited number are being distributed to the teams for family, others.

Assist Club members received an e-mail today by which they could request tickets (but no guarantees that tickets will be provided).

Angie Nelp is the Associate Head Coach at ASU. She's been there 4 years so it's not like she'd have inside scouting knowledge on any of our current players, but obviously she is familiar with the offensive and defensive styles of Coach Langley.
