I’ll go with WKU vs whomever they play.

All about turnovers with WKU..We don’t play great against physical teams. We would match up much better with fast paced teams like UTSA and Marshall...However if we start turning ball over left and right will not matter what kind of team we are playing against..

I'm not really sure why you think ODU will beat LT, unless you are just trying not to jinx your team (which I respect). It's too bad we didn't have a H2H this year, but if you go off of kenpom, LT was a much much better team than ODU this year. (81 compared to 149).

I did essentially take the year off from college basketball this year so my opinion kind of sucks (maybe that's always been the case) but I would not be totally shocked if ODU is one and done vs UNT. ODU has some head scratching losses, and it's pretty easy to get into funk.

After watching the ODU/WKU series I think WKU can win a couple games but Bassey looked straight up gassed in game 1 vs us. Not sure if something extra is going on with him or what, but I would be concerned about him winning 3 games in 3 days with the team.

That said I would be happy for LT or UNT to get the win this year. UNT got screwed over
last year and it's been forever for LT who is always a contender every year, so they definitely deserve a shot.

ODU could very well be a one and done but if we get a game under our belt we could make a run, we're definitely playing better ball now than we were early in the season. Putting my obvious "Homerism" to the side, LA Tech could win this tournament.

- LA Tech/UNT* semi: Tech should beat UNT in the semi's. IMO, UNT has depth issues. UNT has a great starting 5, but the Greenies can only go about 5 or 6 players deep. Tech's aggressive guards and tenacious defense should slowly squeeze the life out of UNT in a 5 to 8 pt win. Tech wins.

- UAB/WKU semi: IMO, UAB will use their famous smothering defense to force turnovers and beat WKU in the other semi. UAB is playing very well right now. How in the world did UAB and WKU not end up playing each other this year? In fact, WKU didn't play UNT or UAB this season, and had splits at home against LA Tech and ODU. That's a soft conference schedule. That's almost everybody that's anybody this season in CUSA! So, I'll have to see more before I'm convinced that WKU is all that. UAB wins.

- LA Tech/UAB Championship game: IMO, Tech has better guards than most CUSA teams, so --assuming everyone is healthy-- the Dogs can fend off UAB's famous swarming defense. That's why the Dog's swept UAB three weeks ago in Ruston. Tech is the one team that plays defense just as well as UAB, but has better guards and is bigger and more solid inside with Crawford and Lofton. So, I'm taking Tech over UAB in the title game.


*Caveat: If ODU beats UNT in the quarters, LOOK OUT! The matchup that scares me the most for Tech is ODU. I haven't seen ODU play this year, but Tech never plays well against ODU in anything. I think it's a "lack of exposure" thing. Out of sight, out of mind. So, I hope we don't have to play 'em. I'm hoping UNT beats ODU in the Quarters.

Id be curious to hear if those announcers knew who WKY was playing :)

I can see a realistic shot by any of the top 4 teams and I do think LT is the best. They have the best defense in the conference and that is typically reliable in a small sample format.

UNT and Marshall have punchers chances.

I think it favor LT and WKY (rightfully so) because they have relatively easy matchups coming in while UAB and ODU have pretty tough matchups.

In the west play-in game I predict USM will score the least amount of points ever in a CUSA tournament game as that's the way this season has gone for us.

USM - 36 (not saying that's the lowest point total in a CUSA tournament game but that's my gut feeling)

They did say it, but that was the first time any of us had heard it. Stanz is notoriously close to the vest with medical/health issues so it is possible. But nobody knew about it beforehand.

On Bassey and the pneumonia, Stansbury did confirm it on one of the post game interviews.

I really feel like the conference is strong this year. Just look at UTEP (who is not even being seriously talked about on here) went into Kansas and gave them a good scare in that first half. I really wish we could crack the code for an at large bid because I feel like our conference does not get the respect it deserves.

Predictions? Pffft. They don't call it March madness for nothing.

I like WKU or Tech to win it but there are several other really good teams.

Marshall, UTEP, North Texas could all upset somebody's apple cart but I don't know if they can win four in four.

I said in another thread... I was skeptical of UAB until this past weekend. Now with bye in hand... they could win it all. As someone said... peaking at the right time.

La Tech impresses the heck out of me. If you consider the "contenders" to be the four byes + Marshall and UNT then Tech played more games than anybody against those contenders and went 5-3. They played a tougher schedule than the other contenders and came out on top of the west anyway.

WKU... I think there is some truth to this but some of you might not agree. I think because of the press Bassey gets and because we are picked #1 preseason... I think we get most teams' best games. They all want to prove themselves against the NBA first rounder. Matching that intensity game in and game out is tough. Hope Jackson doesn't go off on us too bad.

ODU... just great defense this past weekend. I think they drew a brutal path to the title though. If they play UNT and La Tech I will be very interested in seeing those games.

Not sure if it's been mentioned anywhere but FIU has forfeited their first round game to Middle Tennessee due to Covid issues of some sort. Middle automatically advances to play North Texas.
