Conference NET Rankings
Its been a bunch of years since the WAC has been this low. I know there are 2 move ups this year, but I thought these bottom of the barrel days were behind us. And its across the board. Seems like everyone in the WAC is lower than they usually are.

RE: Conference NET Rankings
The top three Texas schools (SFA, Sam and ACU) all have NET ratings of >156 which will help

You will have more OOC games and a more regular schedule which will help

Chicago State won’t help next year but the transitional schools will be a step up too from this year

RE: Conference NET Rankings
WAC has only 1 team in the top 180 in the NET. You have to think in a normal year WAC should have 3 schools above 180.

ACU 85
SFA 148
SHST 156
Lamar 311
SUU 117

Like mentioned by TT these schools will help and once the 14th schools is finalized then as WAC fans we can then start to hope things trend in the right direction.

Fun fact: Chicago St has the same amount of Quad 4 wins as Kentucky Alabama and Penn State.

RE: Conference NET Rankings
I have to admit that I'm not even looking at the NET rankings this year with all the shizz that teams have had to go through. I honetly believe, if teams were allowed to have more OOC chances, we would have been in a much better spot. It is what it is, and unfortunately, my guess is the winner of the AQ will bear the brunt of that with a low seed.

Hopefully, we can hold on to some of our better players (across the WAC) so that we can have a shot at a good OOC and better NET rankings next season.

GO AGGIES!!!!

Just the fact of gaining 4 schools next year will help a lot.

RE: Conference NET Rankings
Although Lamar looks like the new Chicago State. Well into the 300's for most of the season.

As of this year, the new schools won't add any potential quadrant 1 wins, few possibilities for any quadrant 2 wins, mostly just quadrant 3 and 4 games...

Any dip and all we'll have almost exclusively quadrant 4 games.

The WAC has a long way to go to get back into the top half of leagues where we peaked a few years back. I don't see the additions helping much.

Since GCU is the 1 seed going into the tournament, ESPN has them as the representative for the WAC. They are a 14 seed according to ESPN. I think anyone else would likely be a 16 seed. I think I saw earlier in the year that UVU was when they were leading the conference.

Yikes. It's worse than I realized. Why you'd have to post their history?

For most of the year if you played ACU in Abilene it would be a quadrant 1 game for your school, currently it would be a quadrant 2 game. This is much better than any current WAC member can offer, but I guess you’re right, there’s basically no upside to them joining :)

They weren't in the conference this year....And Net Rankings vary by year. You realize this, right? If they didn't, we'd be counting NM State when they were about 150 spots higher and the entire WAC when they 15 in the country instead of 26, but that isn't how it works my friend.

And there is no "most of the year crap.". It doesnt count where a team ranks when you play them. Its where they end up. One decent chance every other year if the stars align is no monumental shift, and nothing that can't be accomplished in normal non con scheduling anyway.

With that said, I don't care if ACU joins the conference or not as long as they don't completely suck all of the time.

RE: Conference NET Rankings
I don't have a better method, but the NET Rankings are overly biased because of the size of the Power Conferences. Why should Texas Tech, the seventh place team in the Big Twelve get a Tourney Bid before a bottom ranked conference regular season conference champ that lost to the second or third place team in their conference tourney? I don't believe they should, but the payout system for the NCAA encourages it.

If the WAC representative would get into the tourney as a 16 seed, get a play-in game and win, it would give the WAC an extra "share", meaning more revenue for the next 6 years. These are the stupid things I think about while lying awake at night...

I am super exited for the new schools that are joining. I really think the WAC could move up the conference rankings with these new additions.

Yeah I’ve thought about this, too. A play-in game gives the WAC the opportunity to double its payout, without making the Round of 32.

Not saying you are " hoping" for a 16, but they aren't that easy to get. Along comes a couple upsets in some of the lowest conferences and they "steal" the remaining 16s from otherwise perfectly qualified teams.
