STR - Vanderbilt vs Cincinnati
Three days ago, Cincinnati added a home game for tonight against Vanderbilt to fill an empty slot in their schedule. My question is: if Cincy had an open slot for tonight, why didn't the AAC step in and encourage them to reschedule the game against Memphis that was postponed on February 11? Would've given us both another conference game, not to mention the fact that a late season game against Vanderbilt is just weird.

I wonder if Memphis had any interest in rescheduling that game...
Seems like it doesn't really help us any so why would we want to play it and cut down on our preparation for @Houston

Good point. High risk, low reward.

I think it's crap that when Memphis tried to schedule Louisville and/or Georgia Tech the league said no in January, but Cincy and Houston are aloud to schedule OOC games to their liking.
I would love to see Memphis vs Vanderbilt though. I understand Penny because Sampson has had a week off to get ready.

That was my initial thinking, based on the fact that it would have meant playing 4 games in 8 days, with 3 of them on the road. Penny made a statement about "Houston crying" so it seems that we wanted to play the extra game.

Penny wanted to schedule Wichita and/or Houston.
The league allowed the opposing coaches to veto that.
I don't think Penny has any interest in playing any other games than those.

It was announced Tuesday that instead of traveling to Tulane (for a game that will not be made up), the USF will head to Wichita State to close out the regular season on Saturday. Funny Wichita state and the league found a way to play USF but not the Tigers.

Seems they would have taken how many home vs away games team had into account.
Houston will have 10 home vs 7 away games in conference
Memphis will have 8 home vs 7 away games in conference

Word on the street...
Penny initially was adamant he wanted to makeup the game @Wichita and the game @Houston. He wanted to replace the USF game with one, and add the other.
Then the AAC shafted us by not rescheduling Houston, and instead moving our game to there.
Then Penny shifted and said he would not travel to Wichita and then turn around and travel to Houston with no home game.
Good for Penny.
Bad for AAC.
Ugly for Veatch. He got walked on.

Agree a bad look
Still unsure why we couldn’t have found a safe buy game for tonight
Covid safe and game safe
Considering we will not play in the conference tourney until Friday, the rescheduled USF game and no replacement means even after missing three weeks we right now will play 1 game over ten days. We saw what loss of rhythm means against Tulane in spite of winning
We should be bearing up on North Alabama or someone tonight

A perfectly reasonable explanation.

Eh?
You realize we play at Houston on Sunday, right?
It will be our 4th game in 12 days. We will have 4 days off before our 2nd round AAC tourney game.

You want to play our 3rd game in 6 days, 36 hours before a road game?

Dude
Why?
Played USF Tuesday
W no game
Th no game
F no game
S no game
Sunday game
M no game
T no game
W no game
Th no game
F game
Between the Tuesday USF and Friday tourney that is one game in ten days
Yes, AFTER that, should we win we may okay two more games in two days.
And PRIOR to that our kids played the three games after the Covid three weeks
So since my pretty minor point here was that during this time our kids will have played ONE game in ten days, and that is 100% true, WTF is your point here?

We are playing 3 games in 8 days. You want to play a meaningless game tonight to make it 4 in 8 days, and 36 hours before we play on Sunday?
You do have something blocked, that's for sure.

One game in 10 days going into conference tourneys is not uncommon. I'm guessing most teams are in that position this year.
Your point makes no sense. I was giving you the benefit of the doubt and thinking you had forgotten about Houston Sunday.

Selfishly I would love for the Tigers to have played another game last night.
I like to watch them play. But if we are going to put ourselves in the best position to win the right decision was to focus on Houston.
And on another note...I bet Cinci wishes they didn't schedule Vandy...
