I believe liberty is in because the team they are playing tomorrow is still in the D1 transition period. So if Liberry loses they still get the auto bid because the other team can't take it.

seeing so many historical ncaa teams not being in the tournament this year just backs up my belief that this covid crap destroyed a lot of schools. The NCAA tourney will be more exciting for many schools that normally ignored or knocked out in the first round. I look for flukes to be in the final four. Their fans have to be living in a dream right now.

Yeah, that one was a headscratcher...but realistically, they could still just hire him in a year anyways.

To be honest, I thought UC should have maybe taken a look at him before they settled on CJB. I may have even mentioned it at the time but I can't remember if the negative responses were because he was an X guy, or because some didn't want to hire another short guy.

What was he thinking? In 2017, Kelsey was hired as the head coach at Massachusetts, but returned to Winthrop two days after accepting the position, citing personal reasons. Kelsey informed UMass Athletic Director Ryan Bamford of his decision 25 minutes before the scheduled press conference to formally introduce Kelsey to the press and university community. Two days prior, Kelsey had signed an MoU with the university, which included a $1 million buyout clause should Kelsey leave before two years.

Kelsey has done a good job. I am glad that he is not the coach of the Bearcats.

I believe Pat Kelsey is close friends with John Brannen

I'm pi$$ed that Michigan St. will now probably get in with a lousy record. And watch, if Dook wins two games in their tournament they'll get in for sure just because of the lettering on the front of their jerseys.

Nsoseme trying to get back to the ncaa tournament

He had 17 & 12 in that semifinal game.

So a question for our bracketology experts here: has X indeed played their way out of the tournament? Or will they beat a so-so Butler team and a Creighton team that's lost its coach and two straight games and sneak in?

They're right on the edge. Honestly this year it's really hard to say.

X and Memphis will be hard to guess on...both in the mid50’s in NET - they would both do well to win a couple games in the conference tourney.

I think Memphis is easily a tournament caliber team, but I don't think they get in without winning the conference tournament. They don't have a tournament caliber resume the way the NCAA evaluates it (q1/q2 records). If you look at the good accomplishment metrics like Wins Above Bubble and Strength of Record they don't fair well.

They are a weird inverse of Wichita State that I don't actually think is a tournament caliber team, but probably has the resume to get in. .500 q1/q2 record (not an ideal amount of q1/q2 games though), no bad losses, strong Strength of Record /Wins Above Bubble numbers (which correlate really well to making the tournament with power conference teams, though not as well..but still decently with nonpower conference teams).
