How can you be flat in that situation?

I’m wondering if we get any rebounds the rest of this game. And with 4 minutes left, do we have to use 30 seconds on every trip, both offense and defense, down the floor?

We did not play with the energy or effort to beat a good team. And we have not for about 8 or 9 games now.

I posted yesterday that I doubted that we could just turn it on. And we did not.

Major attitude and commitment changes needed for next year. Guys have got to look at themselves and ask if they want to commit the way Isaiah Miller does. Or the way guys like Pun Tisdale did last year. Otherwise we will finish 5th or 6th again, despite the talent level.

This has got to be the laziest, poorest ball handling team that I've seen at ETSU.

Disappointing “team” this year in a lot of ways. Too sloppy and selfish at times. Too much one on one, jack up the 3. Not a fan favorite for a lot of reasons.

RE: Official SoCon Tournament Thread: ETSU games
This Covid year has been a nasty struggle with premier programs all over the country falling short. If you watched Duke play North Carolina, 2 of the top 4 programs in the country, with 2 Hall of Fame coaches and a roster full of McDonald's All-Americans, you can see how even the best are struggling. The entire ACC has not put even 1 player in the 15 man watch for the Wooden Award player of the year.

I don't underestimate the work that the Bucs team and staff put in just to field a squad in this crazy environment. Words like 'laziness' do not apply to this situation.

But like Mike Kryzewski and Roy Williams, I am sure that the Bucs are aiming for much higher than they were able to achieve this year. I posted bluntly because I think we've got to be honest about where we are.

But I have no doubt that the team and staff will want to do what is necessary to improve in what will hopefully be a much better atmosphere next fall.

We just need to have a good core of players return. Transfers can then fill out the roster. This team never came together and could not play together as a team. With so many new players it was a difficult task to make a team out of them. I do not remember a team with so many new players as we had this year. We shall see what the coaches can recruit. Then them have got to get them to play together.

Ten new players on this team. Eleven counting Hall. That is a daunting task for any coach. Not an excuse for not playing well but was a reason for sure.

I hope that we don’t have massive attrition this off season. The charged local response to the players was and remains very ugly. Do we know if the seniors will have the opportunity to return?

I'm sure you're speaking of player attrition, but I'll be curious as to how many FANS don't return. The interest in the past 3-4 years was the best it had been since the Les Robinson/Alan Leforce hey-day. I think most fans were willing to be patient with the disappointing performance this season, but the anthem issue pushed a lot of people away. The question will be whether the anger/frustration/disappointment will subside before next season begins.
In many ways, this season's limited attendance policy was probably a good thing for ETSU because it masked any potential fan dissatisfaction.

I've heard this said, but not sure I understand it. Based on TV viewership of sports in the past few years, I can't help but think that the plummeting viewership is related to the fact that many fans turn to sports for entertainment. However, the increasing political messages are a turn-off to many sports fans. It doesn't make them wrong, it's simply the fact that many see sports as a chance to get away from the daily grind for a couple of hours.

I think for that reason we will see an end to players being on the court for the national anthem for both football and basketball.

Seniors can return, if they choose. It was a free year for everyone.

I don’t. If catching up to the rest of the world means some of the silliness we see around us, then I’m not interested. I’ll just be happy when ETSU can live up to it’s values and actually welcome differing opinions, inclusion, and free thought. Supporting protests that unnecessarily offend large groups of people is not what the university says it’s about. Time to start walking the walk.

Sloppy sloppy sloppy. Some of the things I saw reminded me of the Bartow years. Didn’t seem like the players played nearly as hard for Shay. All the new players might be the reason? Not sure. Disappointed in how the season turned out. We seemed to hit our peak midway through and then get worse. We’ll see how many players hit the portal. Really hope to see Monsanto in an ETSU uniform next season.

My understanding is anyone who wants to can return. This year doesn’t count towards eligibility. With that said, I have a sinking feeling we’ll see quite a few transfers after this anthem stuff.

Next year is going to be rough for the athletic department. Word on the street is there are a number of donors who have pulled out. This should have been handled differently. Noland built this program into something great, but it may end up worse after all is said and done. This will set us back years.

There was a commercial on during the game today from ESPN. Clips of several teams, probably a couple dozen, doing the exact same thing ETSU players did. The reaction to our team has seemingly far exceeded the reactions in other communities. It’s literally going to be the story of the year in Johnson City.

I’ve been around ETSU for 17 years now. I’ve always felt that the community undervalued the university in many, many ways. This region would be in really awful shape without ETSU. If this situation kneecaps the university or athletics program significantly it says more about the quality of the community, not the character of players. The biggest risk to ETSU is a region stuck in backwards thinking, economic stagnation and the brain drain of young people leaving ASAP.

On a lighter note, I really hope this was our last game against ‘lil Wes. He’s earned a promotion. Time for him to take the crazy eyes to a power 5 job.

Agree. Its okay when the ladies down the road in Knoxville do the same damn thing but when the men at ETSU do it eveyone loses their ****. It makes the whole area look backwards. Where is the outrage for UT?
