Sun Belt Tournament
Final seedings won't be complete until GaSt finishes off South Alabama. But, it looks like as 5th in the West, we would play 4th in the East which is Appalachian State. If we win (I realize it is a big "if") we would then play #1 in the West, TxSt. I said jokingly, a few weeks ago, that it is "tough" to beat a team 5 times in a season. I actually wonder if it has ever happened before. With us favored to win the West, before the season, I wonder what the odds would have been of TxSt beating us 5 times if you made the bet in November (1000 to 1?). While I would still favor TxSt, I do think it would set up a unique situation, and sure wouldn't count us out.

AppSt has lost 6 of their last 7, so we will be playing a team that is struggling about as bad as we are. Might just be interesting.

10 years ago this week Steve Shields team had to win 4 games in 4 days to get to ncaa tournament. His team played on March 5,6,7 & 8 just like this year. Year was 2011. It can be done.

RE: Sun Belt Tournament
I think the first game, with AppSt, is toss-up, although I think we will be favored by a couple of points. If we win that, I do think the TxSt game could be interesting just because "they have beat us 4 times" factor. Yes, that clearly means they are better than us, but a 5th meeting in the same season is uncharted territory. If we continue to advance, I don't see us having much of a chance to beat GaSt if they advance that far.
It is amazing what one win does. I was pretty confident we would lose our first game in Pensacola. Now I feel fairly good about beating AppSt, and don't rule out the possibility of upsetting TexSt. However, I do remember the last time I felt pretty good about beating AppSt in the tournament. That was Wes' last year and they beat us by about 40.
One more thing. While ASU beat us out for 4th place, I like our draw much better than theirs. They start off with GaSou, who beat AppSt yesterday, and would play GaSt if they win. The reality is, neither of us will likely go very far in the tournament, but I prefer our draw.

We are 211 in the NET rankings while AppSt is 250. So we will definitely be favored. Now, of course, some of our ranking was built up while we still had Markquis (and Kris) so it may be somewhat deceiving. ASU is 246 and we know how our games with them turned out.
I really haven't studied the NET, so I don't really know how it works. I do know it is a lot less favorable to mid-majors, than the RPI (which I didn't particularly like either). GaSt, which appears to be a pretty solid team, is only ranked 135 in the NET. They are #53 in the RPI a ridiculous difference- If the NCAA committee still relied on this, they would be on the "bubble" as an at-large. We are at 182, which isn't a whole lot different than our NET ranking.

Not that it means a whole lot, but it is still worth a mention. The team we beat yesterday, ULL, beat TxSt 3 out of 4. I believe they were TxSt's only conference losses.

Coastal Carolina women were 15-3 last year in the SBC including a win over LR at the Jack when the players and coaches took a group shot at center court to commemorate the occasion. This year they are 0-13 in SBC play.
