Something other than sports
Forgive me for being a proud parent for a moment. My daughter wrote her finest work and it is in the latest windsor weekly newspaper. I am so proud of its content about mended little hearts. You see my daughter, amber was born with a heart defect twenty years ago this month. She had 3 open heart surgeries in her first 2 weeks. She is doing great these days. She gets checked every year and is on the Dean's list at virginia tech and was just named sports editor at the collegiate times. I wish she had of went to odu but VT gave her a full scholarship and it was hard to turn down. This article gets my emotions going about what so many parents and their children go through. Mended hearts has to decided to go national with her article and will be on all of their websites. I'm sorry to take up your time, but man I'm so proud I had to share. If you would like to read it and please do, go to Windsor weekly and hit news. Thank you for my indulgance

Great story, here's to hoping she has many more published stories in her lifetime. Nothing wrong at all with being a proud Dad!!!! Only problem is that she is a Hokie 05-nono

Lol, I give her hell about that all the time, but believe me she has a very soft spot for ODU. She went to a LOT of games growing up and still follows them. She has to be hush hush about it. Lol. Thank you for very nice comments

I feel you. Our granddaughter, a graduate from ODU. Was born with a bad heart valve. The poor girl has gone thru two open heart surgeries before she was 25. So grateful for the doctors and nurses at the Sentara Heart Hospital. One of the surgeries was during Covid. So strange seeing these young women in the heart pavilion at the hospital at their age. We are also proud of our girl. Glad it's a good story and here's hoping there's more good ones to come.

Thank you for sharing that. It is nice to insert a little humanity into our dialogue.

Congrats on your daughters success. You should definitely be proud. Maybe she can be a Monarch for grad school!
