2021 NET: App - 210
2020 NET: App - 187
2019 NET: App - 213 (This team won 11 games...)

Shows how screwy the NET ranking really is.

Shows how screwy the NET ranking really is.

And how it doesn't take the lingering effects of Covid-19 into account.

What was our Net Ranking on 1/24/21? I bet it was the best in the conference.

I don't think App ever hopped GaSt even after beating them twice. But yeh, App was riding high at the end of January. I think I remember it being around 110-120 NET. The COVID pause lowered it a couple dozen. Then losing 6 out of the last 7 tanked it.

If the committee doesn't take a deeper dive into the background of these teams' road we're a 16 seed. But the truth is this team was always the best 2020-21 basketball team in the Sun Belt conference. A once in a century pandemic cooked the numbers into something unrepresentative of the team going to the dance.

Can't imagine being the mathematician designing an algorithm pertaining to COVID-19 and anything other than face masks.

I haven't logged in or posted on YC in many years, for reasons mentioned previously. Even towards the end of the MMB on Delphi it was getting untenable. I doubt my username is even registered any longer.

Too many loons who (among other things) don't remember or respect the struggles to raise our standards, still too many who wish they could pay Yosef $100/yr (sic), park in the stadium lot 10 minutes before a Carolinas conference game, and still get to their seat with time to spare.

Agreed, the 24/7 site is better, I just don't frequent that one much.

Lots of closet Tar Heel fans in App clothing on YC as well.

I didn't want to say this in this celebratory thread, but you are correct.

Most newbie fans (2005+) have no idea what had to be done to get the program where it is today. The biggest hurdle of all was the administration. Those fans who wanted football on the cheap were actually enabled by an administration who didn't want athletics to become to big. Thankfully we were able to convince enough people on the BOT to replace Borkowski with Ken Peacock. That's when things started to change.

I was a news reporter for a radio station when Peacock was announced as Chancellor (in fact I was the first interview he gave after bring announced) and that is a widely oversimplification and a stretch of events.

Which radio station? Do you actually think Ken would you the real story? But hey, believe what you wish. If you're so much in the know on such things tell me the circumstances surrounding the departures of Laney & Dribelbiss.
