I don't know what to say really other than tremendous effort all around in the 2nd half. I'll add more later

RE: Tourney
In the first half it looked like our guys just met each other. What a turnaround in the secons! No second half turnovers until late. Great game for Doherty, too. Glad he finally got a chance to start.

RE: Tourney
Ok, some actual thoughts now:

1.) I actually felt good about things at the half when we somehow managed to do almost everything we could wrong and still only be down by 3. W&M really missed a chance

2.) Chris bleeping Doherty...enough said. What an energizer bunny he is

3.) Great defense without fouling throughout. We didn't waste any with reaches and other gambles. Obviously huge with this roster

4.) Kudos to Vito and Braun. Not an easy spot at all and did what was asked

5.) Glad to see Telfort and Stucke have good 2nd halfs. They are going to be excellent players

6.) Great poise by Tyson all around

7.) The road ahead beginning tomorrow is very long but these guys are more resilient than I am so we will see. Hats off to them

RE: Tourney
Doherty's 18 rebounds were as many as the next three highest on either team combined.

If you win tomorrow, you will tie the record of four consecutive CAA Finals. None of the previous three were completely after Hofstra, Delaware, Drexel, and Towson joined in 2001-2002. If you play Hofstra in the Final, it will be the first time that three consecutive Finals had the same teams.

Will Walters and/or Strong play tomorrow or Tuesday?

Coen confirmed Shaq is OUT for the tournament. Big blow. Strong is day to day, so the optimist in me says he was being saved for the SF, but probably is still uncertain.

Thank you. In two games against Hofstra, Strong scored 29, and Walters scored 27. They both made a majority of their field goals. Strong averaged 5.5 rebounds, and Walters averaged 4.5 points and 6.5 assists. Walker averaged 17.0 points and had 9 assists in the game that Walters had 6 assists.

Losing Walters’s defense is a big blow.

Good luck guys. Hope we can get the better of you guys tonight. We will be outcoached, no doubt, hopefully we shoot as well as we have our past 2 games (in this arena)

Thanks! Our defense will be key in this one. We had a solid game vs W&M without Shaq and will need to do more of the same to keep your hot offense off the scoresheet. Good luck as well and let's hope for an injury-free, COVID-free, game of basketball where the team that plays best wins.

RE: Tourney
Vegas has Drexel as 1.5 point favorites. We can throw the #2 v #6 seeds out the window, we haven't played them yet this year and the advanced metrics seem to think our squads are even in quality - so the Walters and Strong issue makes sense that we are underdogs.

However, we also haven't had a real healthy Doherty much of the season either. He's been out of the lineup for each of our last four losses which include both conference losses. He looked great yesterday and I think that's an under the radar type nugget of information that swings it back to us some.

I love the way your guys play....which is why I said earlier in this thread that you would beat CoC. May the best team win tonight. I hope it's us, but if it's not I'll be pulling for your guys in the finals.

CAA Monday is my annual cancel FLO Hoops day. Another awful year of spotty coverage (though yesterday was good for me at least)

RE: Tourney
Other than a couple of missed open 3's, Drexel is making us work for every shot. They are crushing us on the boards, and Walker is a bit in his own head. Need to get it together. Down 34-29 at half

Tough one so far. We aren't doing enough right now and I worry about our fatigue as this wears on. We are getting killed on the boards, giving up 50% shooting and not hitting any 3's. Drexel's turnovers (9) are keeping us in contact here. Let's see what we got in the 2nd. Going to need someone from the pool of Chris, Coleman, or Q to step up

Drexel hit the big shots when it mattered. We had no depth out there. Can't expect to win when you only have two players that can score. Covid sucks.

Well played Drexel. Good luck tomorrow you can give some big schools problems in the NCAAs.

RE: Tourney
Like I stated, not having Walters and Strong not being able to play much was going to be tough to overcome.

Despite that, it still took Drexel to have an extraordinary effort to win. I had concerns about facing CAA teams for the first time in this tourney. We got by W&M, but Drexel was going to be tough shorthanded.

Credit to them. They're going to beat Elon. NO TEAM has ever won 4 in a row to win this league, and it won't tomorrow.

NU will learn from this and will be a handful with everybody back (hopefully) next year.
