Cool - let's play against my team of guys who hit 3s at a good rate and only take shots at the rim otherwise. I would love to know the line on that one...

Kewl...

Well, when it counts as three points from beyond the arc it only makes sense that players/styles are going to gravitate toward it. Two points? No one would shoot it that far out from the basket. Some of you guys need to put away your black converse shoes LOL.

In all seriousness, I'm amazed when people fight a trend that has so clearly won. To turn this into a Twitter length thesis, the concept of better spacing & geometry has revolutionized the three major American sports since the turn of the millennium.

- Basketball: shooting from distance stretches the defense, which allows great players to play 1-on-1 in space and have a better shot at scoring

- Football: spreading the field horizontally and vertically allows your best players to get the ball in space and make 1-on-1 plays, which is tougher on the defense

- Baseball: you can either learn to hit to all fields or have a positive at bat without the defense being relevant (i.e. HR or BB), which is tougher on the defense (negates the value of a defensive shift).

In all scenarios, we've learned that using the game's geometry is of strategic importance and can unlock great athleticism or skill.

Well some of y'all can get excited over wins over Tulane and Temple, but when the bottom feeder from a not-all-that-great major conference comes into your place and hands you your @$$, you really know where you're at.

If I was AD, I think once I finished my coffee I’d start by picking up the phone to fire UC’s S&C coach. He has more experience running a women’s basketball program than a men’s and it shows. We looked like a less talented, typically pencil armed XU afraid of contact squad. Egads.

The Basketball team had no S&C period. These are freshman with high school bodies. You are not going to get strong if you don't get the chance to work out. Simple.

Then they are doing it wrong. When I was overseeing work in 5th 3rd the year we played at NKU, I got a chance to chat with Gary and JC and Washington and Evans, etc nearly every day. They’d stop by on the way to and from the monster factory. JC would hit it 2-3 times a day...that kid had workout OCD. They’d lift like animals....even the day the left for away games and the day they left for the conference tourney.

If we have no strength conditioning during the season, there is a global problem.

for ***** sake man...That does not mean we have no S&C program during the season. It means the key time to add true strength, and bulk to the players was missed. You are also comparing the bodies of upper classmen with 2 or 3 years in the program to freshman. A lot of time in the weight room was lost and you can tell.

I am sure the new coach is a downgrade from our last guy, but he has not even had a chance to get these kids into his program. We have no clue what it's like.

Not seeing much evidence of it. You? My guess is we have guys rocking stair masters more than squats.

Or are you one of those basketball requires flexibility not strength and bulk guys. Lol

The Covid cancelled a lot of the offseason work from what i have heard. Someone else can confirm, but it was severely cutback from what i was told.

Not sure why football wasn’t nearly as much. Brady Collins has photos on his Twitter page during this basketball season with 20 Bearcats standing around the rack in a tight group competing and cheering guys on doing squats.

Alan Bishop at Houston since 2017 was probably the second best Basketball S&C coach in the AAC..he got promoted after UC idiotically ran off the top guy.

His Twitter feed is like a commercial for leg day. Lol

I mean its the football offseason, and they are allowed to practice... Basketball did not report until September and were not able to have summer practice/conditioning.

The football team started in August without any idea if they would have a season to play.

That doesn’t answer the question...why couldn't basketball lift since say September or October? Football sure as heck did. So have other basketball programs in the AAC.

Do you guys remember the dismantling of the "Monster Factory"? Or that the previous BB S&C coach bolted last spring to go to UConn?

I'd say the S&C program is a serious concern.
