It's been my absolute savior, to be honest. I'm glad I live in a relatively mild climate (Oregon) with a ton of outdoor options to explore.

Option 1: You're a troll and are making fun of a young adult with the courage to admit mental issues publicly, which is just so wrong that is just disappointing as a fellow bearcat fan and human being.
Option 2:. You really have no idea that what you post here is as bad as it actually is and you also need to take a break and do some self reflection.
Either way the mods need to take action and do what everyone knows should have been done long ago.
I know the cool thing to do these days is to ban anyone from social platforms if they say something we don’t agree with.
How about people just toughen up and move on if they see a comment they don’t like. The ability to do that used to be a sign of maturity and enlightenment.
I am not saying ban him for saying things that I don't agree with, I disagree with many things said here and I have no issue with it. I do not like the cancel culture either, I do not like knee-jerk reactions to a single action, usually taken out of context.
This is not a single action, this is years of sometimes hateful and usually narcissistic comments across multiple bearcats forums and platforms. What value is being added by these individuals' presence? I'm betting that this type of input has driven more people away from being active board contributors that it has engaged any thoughtful real comments on anything bearcats related. What type of fanbase do we want to be? One that consistently demeans players, coaches, administrators and other fans?
The schtick has worn off long ago, it was never funny, interesting or enlightening in any way. I would hope that after years of negative feedback, that someone would look in the mirror and consider an actual change. But maybe the attention just feeds the ego to the point where being right or wrong no longer matters.

Same here in North Carolina. I love walking outside in my neighborhood with the earbuds playing good tunes. Sunlight and fresh air does a body and mind good!

I love me some Asheville.
Mountain bike all day in DuPont, then grab barbecue and bar hop the downtown all evening!
Friggin Ohio sucks for mountain biking.

Asheville is great. Good live music scene, great craft brews, great food, awesome outdoor excursions....not too far from the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and Mt. Mitchell State Park - the highest elevation east of the Mississippi @6,684 ft above sea level.

Hoping to visit Asheville for the first time a little later this year. My wife and I have been eyeballing it as a potential landing spot. With the exception of the two years my wife lived in Missouri during college, neither of us have lived outside of Ohio and we are growing tired of the long, gloomy winters.

Apologies in advancing for continuing the detour of this thread.
Asheville is a wonderful small city in a breathtakingly beautiful setting with abundant outdoor recreation in those Southern Highlands. Bolded, while winter is a bit shorter and milder, there is plenty of gloomy weather in that mountain region. More than once we've vacationed in that area--or stopped for a couple of days on our way to or from the coast and had rain and fog pretty much shut us down in terms of outdoor activities. Because of that past experience, we just flipped our spring trip from Asheville to Tucson, where it won't rain at all and we'll enjoy sunshine and 80 degrees for a week in early April.

There was an Atlantic article on Dejulius today apparently with more insight but I don't have subscription. Anyone read that?

Apparently he was very upset with Doss calling him a whimp on this message board and decided to opt out.

Good quote from the interview:
Do you plan to rejoin the team when you feel like you get to that point?
Yes, most definitely.

I did. While he seems to be pretty candid about the situation, it still seems rather vague as an outsider. I don't really know how to paraphrase his reasons beyond stress tied to the pandemic. Although he also mentions that it all boils down to winning and winning (from his vantage point) doesn't involve him at the moment. He also talks about his mindset not being right with regard to basketball and its lack of rhythm this year and further to life since basketball doesn't define him. It also sounds like he's feeling a lot better already and is at peace now having spent time with family (and staying in touch with his brothers aka teammates.)
On that note, he also throws cold water on the whole coaching/chemistry problems people want to speculate about. I"ll go ahead and quote this short one:
Quote:For you personally, do you feel as if you have a good relationship with your teammates and the coaching staff?
Yes, I do; I have an incredible connection with the coaching staff and the team. That wasn’t part of the decision at all.
Moving forward he says he most definitely plans on returning and he even has thoughts about still coming back this season although he has no timeline set.

I mean, it's pretty clear that that's what is happening. I'm thinking after that Houston game, when they knew they had very little chance of anything post-season wise, DD made a decision. Harvey is something different, but Gabe and DD appear to be guys who didn't want to deal with that ridiculous restrictions of the NCAA bubbles.

RE: Dejulius
FYI, I went to the Athletic out of curiosity as I've thought about signing up before, and I was greeted with an offer of $1 per month. Not sure how long that lasts, but it was any easy decision to spend a buck to read some of Justin Williams' recent articles. I've been following him on Twitter for a while, and he's even responded to my tweets before. Great stuff.
Regarding DDJ, he didn't go into specifics on how he's feeling/what he's dealing with. But from the interview, I think he is handling things with grace and maturity. The biggest takeaway I got was that he realized he wasn't himself on or off the floor, and couldn't give the attention and focus needed to compete at the highest level. He mentioned he's really happy with the way the guys are playing without him. He didn't necessarily say the team is better off without him right now, but you can tell he's really rooting for the young guys and looking forward to getting back with the team when he's feeling better.

Sorry for another detour.....
Asheville is a great town, but it is NOT a cheap town.
Housing costs are pretty high.
I’m in the medical field, and a past resident of mine moved to Asheville and said the job market is not great.
I may be wrong, but i think the cost of living is a noticeable amount higher than the Dayton / Cincinnati / Midwest areas.
