Mac Hughes with the lead entering the final round of the U.S. Open! Sweet!
He's tied with Louis Oosthuizen and Russel Henley. A bunch of big names are 2-3 shots back: McIlroy, DeChambeau, Rahm.
An amazing performance--he had missed the cut in his last five tournaments.

Mac has been pretty bad on his first 4 holes. Bogey on 1 and then missed a couple of opportunities. Needs to find a bird. Too many GREAT players lurking.

Mac had a chance until his ball landed in a damn tree. Double Bogey and now down 3 strokes with 7 holes to play.

Shame he wilted on the back 9, but still had quite a weekend and earned over $177K.

Was tied for the lead, but Pendrith bogeyed the last hole keeping him out of a playoff. He finishes tied for 4th.

Hughes and Conners both playing the British Open this week at Royal St George. I believe that is where Ben Curtis won the Open in 2003??

Yep. That’s the site of the miracle. The last hour of that tournament is still unbelievable.

Also, Taylor Pendrith getting a regular Tour start this week at the Barbasol, which is absolutely the only reason to pay any attention to that tournament, unless you’re such a golf junkie that watching Open overage from 1 a.m. to noon is not enough.

I love the secondary PGA Tour tournaments because they tend to get such a great mix of legends that never were quite great and up and comers. Hoping Pendrith has a good weekend.

RE: Kent Golfers in the Pros - 2021 Edition
Both Conners and Hughes were top 5 with about nine holes left, however they finished:

Hughes T6
Conners T15

At the Barbasol Championship (Still a PGA Event) Pendtrith finished T11 at -18, 3 shots back.

Very Impressive showing by the Golden Flashes this weekend!

The KSU Canadian Olympic team is off to Tokyo this week, but Taylor Pendrith and Chase Johnson are playing at the Korn Ferry Tour stop in the Ozarks. Johnson ran off six straight birdies in one stretch in the middle of the round and shot a bogey-free 32-31/63 and sits tied for first place with one other player. Pendrith shot an even par 72 and will need a big round today to make the cut.

RE: Kent Golfers in the Pros - 2021 Edition
Ian Holt is second after the third round of the Forme Tour event (Fuzzy Zoeller Classic). The Forme Tour was formed for the US-based players of the Mackenzie Tour to get the young and inexperienced prospects a chance to play against strong competition and earn a chance to play on the Korn Ferry Tour (the top 5 in points earn a Korn Ferry card). This is the fifth event (out of eight) and Holt has made the cut in three of the four tournaments, but his high finish was a tie for 10th. As a result, he is 50th in the order of merit.

Last week, I played Kampen in West Lafayette just a couple of days after the Forme Tour played there. Course ate me alive. I curse Pete Dye! Are they at TPC River Bend this week or was that last week? Too hot either way, but a fun course to play.

River Bend is next week. They are playing Covered Bridge GC now in Indiana.

Holt didn't have a great day and it would have taken a great day to win, so he ends up tied for 3rd.

Hughes makes the cut at Wyndham (T13). Pendrith makes the cut and Johnson misses it at whatever Korn Ferry event that's being played.

Taylor Pendrith

City plays from: Richmond Hill, Ontario. Notched four runner-up finishes, including three in a row in July 2020, as well as a T3. One of the longest hitters on Tour. Joins former Kent State University teammates and fellow Canadians Corey Conners and Mackenzie Hughes on the PGA TOUR.
