Competing in CUSA Men's Soccer just got tougher for UAB. Got to find a way to crawl out of the cellar.

Coach Kinney has a nice resume and recruiting has been pretty good so far. We seem to be getting a little more competitive (we play a tough schedule), just waiting for The Turn.

Glad that Coach Getman is still involved in the local soccer scene as Director for the new Hoover-Vestavia alliance. I sure wish UAB could lure Luke Whittle from Vestavia Soccer Club but he probably wouldn't leave there for anything but the head coaching position. He is the best youth soccer coach in Alabama and would be a big boost to our in-state recruiting. We do produce a few elite players but they rarely sign with UAB. JJ Williams (Kentucky & the Legion) and Chandler Hoffman are good examples.

Much like the rest of the world, the elite US soccer players are going to stop attending colleges to play. That is a good thing, because that is the next leap this country needs to take to become more competitive at the international level. I felt like at times German became too reliant on local players when other recruits were missed, I don’t want to see us go down that rabbit hole again. Find the players that fit the system, and don’t worry about where they are from.
