1st Round: Gardner and Sanders
3rd Round: Ridder
5th Round: Beavers
6th Round: Bryant, Young, and Hicks
7th Round: Brooks

Least confident in Young and Hicks

Wildcard:
Whyle, 3rd Round if he enters early

I'll eat my hat if Sanders is a first round pick. He certainly has speed and athleticism but that hasn't translated to big time results. As teams have schemed around him a little more this year his production has dropped off dramatically. Maybe my expectations are too high but I've been watching him specifically and he's not disrupting the game like a first round draft pick should.

Myjai's highlight reel might as well be all the times he's been held with refs swallowing their whistles. He's gotten into the backfield plenty and if he got a flag every time he was held, his impact would be both significant and noticeable. The hope is that the scouts/personnel people understand that he's simply not getting the calls he should be getting.

i don't know about first round but i could easily see him being a second day pick. if he goes 3rd day, someone is getting a steal.

A pass rushing specialist with one sack in 9 games. Concerning.

He's not having the impact anyone wants, and i'm sure that includes him. it doesn't help that we haven't been able to stop the run so teams aren't passing as much against us. That said, sacks are the eye-popping stat but if he's able to get QB pressures that impacts the game as well. i'm thinking back to both the ND and iu games and i believe Myjai's QB pressures led to at least one pick in each of those games.

i still think he goes by the end of the second day.

McShay just posted his updated position rankings for the NFL Draft...this is insane...

Quarterback:
#4. Desmond Ridder, Cincinnati (#34 overall)

Running Back:
#9. Jerome Ford, Cincinnati (#144 overall)

Tight End:
#9. Josh Whyle, Cincinnati (#121 overall)

Defensive End:
#5. Myjai Sanders, Cincinnati (#37 overall)

Cornerback:
#4. Ahmad Gardner, Cincinnati (#27 overall)
#10. Coby Bryant, Cincinnati (#71 overall)

Safety:
#10. Bryan Cook, Cincinnati (#114 overall)

Most years we barely have 1 guy on those top tens...now we have SEVEN?!?!?! That doesn't even include two guys who I think will skyrocket after testing in Pierce (#133 overall) and Beavers (#163 overall).

In his total draft rankings we've got 9 who are safely in the draft range at the moment, with room to spare considering there are 259 draft picks. For reference, the most from a single team in a single draft was 14 in 2020 from the NC winning LSU team. Anything more than 4-5 is considered pretty special.

I was searching for NFL mock drafts yesterday and I saw one that had Alec Pierce being picked at the end of the 1st round and I thought it might have been like a UC fan created mock so I moved on.

If he closes the year strong he could be a 1,000 yard receiver (I believe Armon Binns is the last 1,000 yard receiver here) and he should test very well. Crazy how much positive publicity this Cincinnati Football team is getting...huge opportunity this weekend on ESPN for Senior Night 04-cheers

With a 3.8 in Eng, Pierce may get a perfect Wonderlic Score if the NFL still does that.

This is very interesting, but it also means that UC will have some very big holes to fill in 2022. I’m expecting ECU, USF, UH and UCF to all be markedly better next year, so there is the prospect for a very challenging 2022 for Fickell and Co.

Ridder’s ranking really intrigues me. It is becoming clear a mobil QB is attractive. I see Des as a blooming Lamar Jackson type QB. Size and mobility IMO severely limit the upside of say Baker Mayfield.

I would love to see the Browns take Des in say rd 3.

There is no way there are 3 CBs better than Sauce.

Seems to be a wide range of opinion on Des at this point. I don't have access to all their stuff anymore but I did see that Kiper had Des at #25 in his top 25 overall as of around a week ago I think and McShay has him at #34 per above.

I guess you could say this about a lot of prospects, but I thought the comment that I posted a few days ago from The Athletic's draft wiz was particularly apt. Something along the lines of Ridder being an easy QB prospect to really like, but a difficult one to really love. He had him at #41 btw.

The Athletic's Brugler just put out his R1 Mock 1.0.
- Sauce to the Bengals @24 which I'd love
- No Des but he talks about Des as a possibility for Detroit at #33 or trading up a bit into R1 to get him.

I think the Steelers are going to need both a new starting QB and a new backup next year. Probably one through free agency and one through the draft. If they get a free agent QB as the starter, I could see them grabbing Des in the second round if he is still there.

That's plausible. FWIW, Brugler has the Steelers taking N. Carolina QB Sam Howell at #16,

Ridder is a completely different type of mobile than Jackson, Murray, Wilson, etc. He's more of a Ryan Tannehill type mobility.

He can make plays with his feet but he's not going to juke multiple defenders or outrun too many DE/LB to the outside in the NFL. He already struggles to do that against AAC DEs and LBs at times.

Correct. Those guys are quicker athletes. Jackson is probably the greatest runner ever and Murray and Wilson were both professional baseball players who are under 6 ft. Des is a long strider who excels in outrunning defenders to the edges.

Ridder would be more of a John Elway type of runner. He’ll run when he has to and he’ll do well at it, but he’s not going to tear it up like Lamar.

Both for Ridder's sake and my sanity as a Lions fan...I hope that doesn't happen lol.

Outside of politics, I still think the best comparison for Ridder is Colin Kaepernick.

Kap was 6'4 230. Des is listed as 6'4 215 but I'd imagine he's bulked up a bit. They are both long striders that were more likely to just run by a safety than to juke them out of their shoes compared to a Murray or Lamar Jackson. Both have cannon arms but struggle with some accuracy issues.

I think that's an excellent comparison although I don't agree on Des having a cannon arm. I think he's got good college arm strength but average NFL arm strength.

8 Bearcats in top 10 position rankings. Beavers the only one missing.
