He received the support of 80% of US papers in 68 and 93% in 72. I wrote a paper arguing that if Watergate didn't happen, Nixon would have gone down as one of the greatest foreign affairs Presidents. Got an A from a liberal professor on that one.

However, I did not look at the TV press in my paper (I wrote it 20+ years ago and can't remember why).

There was still a lot of "hate" in the Wash compost anyway, that's what we got every morning. And I recall much of the tv news, the Cronkite etc class certainly didn't spend a lot of time talking about what ice cream he eats or whether he likes children and prosperity...
