"mansplaining"

As far as I can tell, this happens when a women is confused and/or unable to understand the basic logic of a situation. (probably because, you know...she is a women and thus her emotions interfere with basic logic)

Therefore the man helps the women by explaining the situation in more simplified terms so that she can understand it as well. The woman is enlighten by his words and then she is overcome with thankfulness and gratitude for the man who helped her.

Typically this is a good time for her to say "Thank you, my Lord".

"Mansplaining is a pejorative term meaning " to comment on or explain something to a woman in a condescending, overconfident, and often inaccurate or oversimplified manner". Author Rebecca Solnit ascribed the phenomenon to a combination of "overconfidence and cluelessness"

Not sure what any of that has to do with progressivism.

You think Bible believing Christians are not supposed to tell jokes involving gender, sex or anything really. So its really stunning to realize I too am a human being.

I get that a lot from a lot of non Christians. They are stunned that I would say a woman is hot, or that I would tell a joke using faux sexism to make a bigger point.

I think non Christians think Bible believers want others to believe we are perfect and flawless, without sin, sexual desire or just generally above being a human being at all. Actually its quite clear they think that because I get that all the time form people.

Quite the opposite, we are Christians because we KNOW we are flawed sinners and human beings, and thus we need a Savior because we can't be those things.

YES, Eldonabe, I too am an imperfect human being. Knowing that is what makes me need Jesus as my Lord and Savior.

Interestingly if we were talking about nearly anyone else under the sun, those biased assumptions about Christians would be obvious forms of bigotry and discrimination. Of course, somehow those rules don't apply to those assumptions about Christians.

I am more than aware that I am flawed, my wife reminds me daily.

The term "Bible thumper" is of course an obvious derogatory term in its intentions, but I can't think of a greater honor when the very first thing a person thinks about me is a being a serious Bible believer.

You ever notice every single time someone here wants to troll or attack me the first thing they do is bring up my faith and mock me for it? Its meant to be an insult but its not at all. It has the exact opposite effect of their intention and brings a huge smile to my face and heart every time.

Its just remarkable how foreign and misunderstood serious Christians are to the outside, non Christian world.

I see it every single day when interacting with others or watching interactions between other Christians and non Christians. Of course when you point it people instantly realize it and change direction and say they didn't mean any of it like that. People in general don't want to think of themselves like that, but its a very common human behavior.

That is one of the reasons God gave us women. As a partner and someone who balances us out and makes us better. Just as men do for women.

When done correctly as God intended, every man is better with the right woman, and every women is better with the right man.

That was a bit of a tangent Eric. I actually do not think you are a "Bible Thumper" in the traditional sense. That "type" of Christian is kind of the southern hard right version who do admonish alternative lifestyle. You quote a lot of scripture, but I do think you are pretty genuine in what you believe.

I was a little pissy about it at first for sure.
