Spring football
I’ve been looking but cannot find anything about practice. And hopefully a spring game that we can attend. Free hotdogs would be nice. Free beer would be better.

With no large groups, events or gatherings allowed on main campus, I doubt very much there will be public attendance at spring football game

Well, if no one can come that increases the likelihood of free beer, right? If there is beer in a stadium and no one is there to drink it is it free?

RE: Spring football
Let's start something here, 25 % attendance sounds right for me. In Indiana, events have open up. the NCAA tournament will have 35% attendance. Ft. Wayne hockey has had 2200 fans at their games. Although it could be far better, the Columbus Blue jackets starting March 1 will have 10% attendance in the arena. I want 35 % before its all said and done. For Mudhen games, it should be at least 25 % attendance to start and then increase more and more as the season progresses.

Re: fans at future UT events...the University has decided to go virtual for graduation, so all those hard-working students don't get the opportunity to walk. Not sure why UT thinks out of all schools, they should be the ones to have a virtual graduation. With this decision in mind, don't expect to attend the spring game and cross your fingers for the 2021 season.

RE: Spring football
I don't see a problem with attendance at spring football.

1. It's outdoors
2. Attendance is very low so people can sit rows apart (you wouldn't have to be within 50 feet of anyone)
3. The game is usually around April 15. At current vaccination rate, easily 100 million people will have at least one dose by then and if any one dose vaccines come online it could be considerably more. Add in people who have some immunity from recovering from Covid 19, and I would say the event could be quite safe. Everyone wears a mask and it's a hell of a lot safer than going to the grocery store or most anything else you would do outside of your house.

25% of the GB's capacity would be about 6,500.
Turn out would probably be about 1/3 of that.

I agree with outside events should be at least some type of attendance.
It’s going to suck big time if they again decide to not allow fans in the stands. I know one thing for sure. The government cannot just keep printing money and giving to us and think everything will be fine. Something’s got to give and it won’t be pretty

I would be OK with seeing 7,000+ Rocket fans in the GB this fall...Sooner or later, life as we know it will return to some sense of normalcy...

I hope they allow more than 7,000. Capacity should be 50% or higher so long as we don’t have a 3rd wave of virus infections

Johns Hopkins Dr Martin Makary projects that we willl achieve herd immunity in April. His op ed appeared in the WSJ and picked up by most news outlets. He states the number of covid cases have dropped 77% over the past 6 weeks.

Take your case for in-person graduation (UT is NOT the only university with virtual event only) and no fans at spring football to state and local health departments-UT can't set their own rules for gatherings. Doubt very much changes for April-May that would allow larger gatherings of any type on campus. Hopefully for Mudhens this summer (July) and fall football at UT more fans can attend, perhaps 100% capacity, but for now coming up with ideas and numbers allowed for spring football game attendance is fruitless endeavor.

UT is not the only college in Ohio with virtual spring graduation-to my knowledge they are all virtual. Again UT does not make this decision, its determined by state and local health department restrictions for large gatherings.

From Google in response to "What do cows do?"

My herd immunity has been in place since 2016. I could have skipped this whole lock-down! grrr.

Ohio Department of Health has revised guidelines for outdoor gatherings, no idea what that means for attending spring football game, but UT announced today that they are now planning for in-person May commencement in Glass Bowl on May 8th (while limiting seating and still providing virtual event option)

That is good news. I’m sure the senior class will be happy with that
