SFA MBB Ban Moved Up; Jacks Eligible in WAC Debut
In addition to the nice opening day of WAC baseball, the league got some great news for its 2022 basketball tournament
—-
NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - The NCAA Committee on Academics approved moving up the one-year postseason ban from 2022 to 2021 for the Stephen F. Austin Men’s basketball team.
Athletic Director Ryan Ivey confirmed the news on Friday. The committee approved the request from the athletic department on Thursday. This ban includes both the NCAA National Tournament and the Southland Conference Tournament.
In January the university petitioned the NCAA to move up their one-year postseason ban for men’s basketball to this season instead of the 2021-22 season.

And for 2021 this decision virtually ensures that either SHSU or ACU will go dancing this year. Looking forward to your visit to Abilene. We also play SFA at their place and I’m sure they will be looking for revenge after taking a beating in Abilene town.

In an ideal world - Nicholls will have to climb through one of Abilene or Sam in the semifinals then the other in the title game. Feeling that won’t happen and the ACU/Sam game will occur in the semifinals - setting the championship up for Nicholls

I’m not sure the conference tournament will happen but maybe. If it does, I’d guess
1/2 seeds would be ACU and Sam. I’m not sure in which order.
3 Nicholls
4 NW State or UIW

The issue is the amount of games between each other (and SFA) for ACU & Sam while Nicholls is coasting to the finish line. They did have a narrow win against Southeasteen but certainly their track to the end is more navigable than the others.
We shall see
