And now the Great Freeze on top of everything
Seattle vs UTRGV cancelled due to "travel issues caused by inclement weather", the game will be replaced at our end by Dallas Christian...if the power comes back on. The Edinburg campus is now in its fourth day of closed with no electricity in many buildings.

Last 12 months has been our worst year ever, for athletics, for academics, and for the city. Covid hot spot, border closure killing the economy, hurricane, more Covid, Lew Hill taken, and now this.

Maybe we shouldn't complain. You've actually had serious cold to deal with, without power. We've got nice light sweater weather, the power failures down here as I understand it are mainly just inability of retail providers to get power off the state grid. I'm surprised DCC is willing to come all the way down here, don't know how they'll refuel their bus. The gas stations here have hour-long around the block lines.

I’m hearing the citrus crop is being hit really hard down your way.

Likely reduced fruit this year but hopefully most of the trees will recover. My own trees look like they'll survive, but some got fooled by the warm weather into blooming right before the cold front hit.

I hope everyone is staying safe. I hear there are food shortages as well.

Thanks. Yeah, at HEB last night any form of beef, milk, eggs and of course TP were gone. But as far as safety, it's not really that cold and the roads are dry.
