Ehhh...that's a weird game to play. I'd just rely on the highly regarded OL recruits we've gotten in the last few years to develop instead of robbing from Scruggs to pay Crook. That's also not even factoring in that many may not have had any experience on the OL in HS to begin with (as most of the guys we're bringing in look to be on two-platooning HSs with larger rosters).
I think with Luke Collingsworth (borderline 4* OT), Mao Glynn (borderline 4* OG), John Williams (supposedly pushed for a starting job within one camp cycle), Johnathan Allen (borderline 4* OT who also happens to be enormous), Landon Fickell (well coached and highly regarded), Kobe McAllister (GA OLman of the Year in his division), and Jake Renfro (Freshman All American), the OL future is bright...and plugging a guy in who doesn't know the ropes rather than developing that talent isn't a way to get a program running at full capacity. Bringing in Tunstall is the right move, as LT is the most important position on our line and we need a solid anchor while the next man up is developing, but I wouldn't pull someone from a DL position to RT instead of running out someone like John Williams, Kobe McAllister, or Luke Collingsworth.
I agree with you BM. I don't want us to weaken our depth/talent at DL in any way. There is something to be said if you have talent and depth to use it to your advantage. I think about injuries and the wear and tear on DL for playing extended minutes. I can't wait to see how some of our OL guys develop and battle for playing time. I would add this caveat - Metz. What to do with him? 6'7" and 330. There has to be a role for this guy. Special teams for sure but just seems a waste of his size and telephone pole length arms right now on the OL.

To me, Metz just seems like the kind of guy who it's going to click or not. If he doesn't figure it out this off-season, I'd throw him at DE and hope he can use the next two years to develop something. With that wingspan and bulk, he'd be able to set the edge against just about any tackle in America with appropriate coaching.

Metz isn’t going to get it. He seems like a great guy but he is going to false start from now til the end of time.
