Here's the thing - I don't care if Cruz's family & all their buddies went to Cancun on a whim to get away from the TX weather.

Cruz himself, however, needs to be capable of thinking of more than himself and a fun getaway for the weekend, then backtrack when he gets caught in it because he already knew the optics were horrible.

As to "what could he have done?" He could have at least given the impression that he cared about what's going on with his constituents, whether or not he actually does.

How does he do that? Look to Beto - no matter Beto's reasoning for it - no matter whether he truly wanted to help people or if it was 100% self-serving, or more likely somewhere in between - he was at least attempting to do something that would help.

Again, no matter the reasoning behind it, whether it's a legit desire to help or a publicity attempt (most likely a combo of the two), there is actual help being given by these democrats, while TX's republican sits around with his thumb up his butt, running damage control for his brand.

That "opportunistic dbag" has done more to help the people of TX than Cruz has - same for AOC. I don't care about their reasoning - at least it's something helpful.

To try to discount that is the obvious idiotic nonsense.

He's a senator... not a mayor or even a governor. He has no power within the state. It is his job to represent us in DC.

Now let's think about that. Everything including COngress is 'mostly remote' now because of COVID. Had he remained in Texas, he's either have the same phone and internet issues as the rest of us (meaning he couldn't represent us) OR he'd have a priority line and make our situation even worse.

SO while its a 'good look' to have someone like him visiting people in their flooded homes or handing out water bottles, and its a 'bad look' for him to be on a beach at a resort while others are suffering... the REALITY is that those are both simply 'looks'. Style over substance.

Here's some more reality....
This is nothing more than a strategy by the left and media to do to ANY leading 'Republican' what they've been doing to Trump for the past 4 years. The moment anyone seems to be providing leadership to the party, you will see them immediately come under attack...
