OT Replacement Ballast for Fluorescent Lights
Need some help. I had magnetic ballasts and now will replace with new electric ones.

Do I have to do the strange wiring where I cut the wires from the existing sockets and match up with the new ballasts, or can I remove all the old wiring and put the new ballasts wiring into the sockets ( where the T12 pins insert).

Had magnetic before. I have four bulbs and two ballasts to replace.

It seems that you're in the process of doing a Dagwood Bumstead or me for that matter, that is, trying to fix something and then having to call an expert because it wound up a clusterfudge. LOL 03-wink

I will admit, I suck at electrical “fixing”.03-lmfao

Wish I could help. Some things, I call someone whose business it is - electrical is one of them. I fear burning my house down!!

Good news!

Ballasts are in and the lights work.

Got an awesome from the wife!

The replacement ballasts had the same wiring, so no weird attach red to blue garbage.

Thanks for the encouragement.

LOL, congrats. I'll bet you feel like Superman today. I know that's how I feel when I fix something that I'm not sure I'd be able to.

This board is Team Red vs Team Blue, not Team Magnetic vs Team Electric!

LOL! Congrats on the fix.

Seconded!

I wasn't willing to try. Switching to LED was what the electrician told me.

I saved the light until I had about 5 things for the electrician to do. Things break in old houses.
