NIT Apparently On
According to reports, the NIT will be held this year. The entire tournament will be held in NYC for the first time since 1975. The field will be reduced to 16 and no automatic bids will be given to conference regular season champions.

Let’s see if this turns out to be accurate.

Hey, if this is accurate, do I win a prize? This is my post from late January-

"Pappy's post about The Garden made me wonder if there would be an NIT this year. I have my doubts, but if they do they'll probably modify how they run it. Maybe they'll limit it to 16 teams and invite them all to New York".

I would have said in the past that you need to head to Vegas, but now I can say just drive down to Pine Bluff or Hot Springs!

RE: NIT Apparently On
Well, if the NIT is held with this format, it will not involve the Sun Belt or more than 2 or 3 midmajors (if teams like Belmont, Winthrop, Wright State lose in their tournaments) Less than 2 months ago, this NIT format would have pissed me off because I really thought we would be in contention for a spot. I think everyone on here is aware that we had the automatic NIT bid wrapped up last year if we lost in the conference tournament. I feel bad for our guys who missed out on the postseason experience last year. I guess it could be argued that it is their own fault that they faltered this season, but I think there were factors beyond their control that led to this year's regression.
