RE: Harvey opts out
It’s a bad look for the program when parents and others close to the program rant on twitter. I really want UC basketball and this staff to be successful. For that to happen they absolutely need to have three big impact transfers in the spring plus a handful of team first role players. Anyone on the current roster that is me first needs to go.
Second thing, stop over scheduling. Louisville, Xavier, Georgia, and few other more difficult games are fine next year if if you can get at least 7 rather easy buy games to build your team. In a fewnormal 13 game non-conference schedule you need to find 9 to 11 wins every year. You can’t do that huge roster turnover and a bunch of test right out the gate. Don’t worry about the NET or Kenyon until you have the team where those metrics matter. The staff should have known this for the current season and better understand that they don’t have team next year either to be worried about non-conference SOS.

I love her on Twitter. She's awesome.
There was a Bearcat hoops parent who used to post on here years ago, but I can't remember who. Anyone recall?
I know Dominique Battle's dad or brother was on one of the boards back when he was with the team...not sure about any basketball player families though.

Was it J-Max's mom?

3 impact transfers and several more role players? This does not seem likely or sustainable.
Who is me-first on this team? No idea where this is coming from . . .

The me first guys have self selected and left the team this year but I am concerned with Eason being all in due to his mom on twitter.
College basketball has never had this level of free agency. You recruit a freshman and they can leave and play for someone else next year no questions asked. You can bring in a transfer with multiple years and they are stuck with you. I would take transfers as they actually will provide more stability until the transfer rule get revised.

Harvey is me-first? Funny that no one said that until he left. Yeah, who wants Harvey or Eason or Jarron Cumberland for that matter? Top talent, good riddance!
I'm all for getting 3 stud transfers. Doesn't seem likely to happen, though.

Realistically next year 120 of the 200 available minutes are accounted for
Dejulius will average 30
MAW will average close to 30
Davenport will average close to 30
Eason will average close to 30 (if he stays)
Really the only position with minutes up for grabs is the 5. Whether we like the talent level of them or not, DDJ, MAW and Davenport are the core of this team. Again, hopefully Eason is included with them.

I think Harvey would have started and filled that Keith role. It'd be nice if they can find another big or two. Madsen gives them some flexibility with the backcourt, but none of these guys have the talent of Harvey. They need another talented wing creator and at least one, maybe two talented bigs to really feel good about next year (assuming everyone else stays).

I don't know if Harvey is necessarily me-first. But those rumors/info are coming from sources other than this board for the most part. No clue how much, if any of it, is true.

Harvey opts out
I dont think there's a single person in the program that is happy about the way Eason's mom talks on twitter, even before that post. It's embarrassing to the kid who is probably going through a hell of year trying to adjust to college basketball during a pandemic. Tari has legit NBA potential, but he's not Lonzo or Lamelo Ball. He can't afford to have unnecessary drama come in due to his mom is acting like a child on the internet. Those kind of kids always end up transferring somewhere irrelevant and getting lost in the mix. Really hope for everyone's sake she could just put the phone away.

Doesn't help that we have idiot fans who engage her. There's nothing wrong with a proud parent and being active on Twitter, but posting cryptic negative messages about the program doesn't do any good for anyone -- least of all her son.

We have probably less fans than any NBA team if that is his end goal. If I'm an NBA scout and GM and I have two guys as a 7/10 (simplistic I know), I'm taking the one whose mom isn't going to cause rifts with the team and fanbase on twitter. If she has problems with any of the decisions CJB is making, I'm sure he has an open door policy on that type of thing. Blasting it for the world to see ain't it.

Agreed. Granted, I have a dystopian view of Twitter generally so it's easy for me to look at Eason's situation and see it as wholly negative for him and for our program.
Beyond that though, I'll suggest none on this board really know what's going on inside the locker room or basketball suite. It's Brannen's job to build a successful team and he'll be evaluated on that as soon as next season I suspect. That may mean a lot of player movement will continue in the short run. Sometimes very talented players land here with impressive offer lists where they were the back-up plan for those ranked programs for reasons other than on court ability. But speculating on players coming and going in 2021 as a "Brannen problem" isn't productive. National champion coaches are struggling at Kentucky and Duke so clearly there are many variable in play this season that we've never seen before.

This year has been such a challenge for us likely that has not been seen since Mick’s first year. Regardless, I think you have to give Brannen a pass on this year. Unfortunately, puts us really behind the 8 ball for the next couple of years where we should be getting a better look at how Brannen’s teams should perform.

That's an arm chair take. Tons of players have baggage, some worse than having a twitter-happy mom. if you have the talent, the league will find a place for you.

This. The NBA does not care about any of that. This isn’t the NFL or MLB we’re the owners and commissioner are stronger figures. The players run the NBA.

Next year comes down to spring 2021 transfers. Personally I think UC can easily upgrade their talent with just an above average spring but really needs a monster class to get back into tournament contention.
Seriously if Dou, Gabe, and Harvey all left do you think it’s going be that hard to find role players better then what that trio gave UC this year. You need a stud scorer to replace Williams and one big then your roster is already in better shape.
