I don't want to throw dirt on Jarron, but his body language both under Cronin and Brannen was often concerning. Doesn't necessarily mean he has a bad attitude, but the way he has trashed Brannen on social media is not a good look.

I mean Jarron notoriously had the Diva attitude and it wasn't a secret to anyone. The difference was really that when Brannen took over, Jarron was no longer good enough to justify putting up with it.

I remember listening to a podcast where Terry Nelson was the guest and he said that when Jarron made a bad pass under Mick it was the other guys fault for not getting the ball and when Jarron made a bad pass under Brannen it was Jarrons fault. Jarron was a diva, I don't know if Harvey is a diva but it mom certainly is.

You can say that there's nothing to worry about with all the defections, that it's just today's games, but my hunch is that when you look at the teams in the sweet 16, most of them are based on freshman recruits not transfers.

I'm not so sure. Free agency - let's call it what it is - is now a part of nearly every program. Look at Ohio State. They're a consensus 1 seed as it currently stands. Three of the main eight guys in their rotation are transfers. Interestingly, all of them had a full year with the program before they played, so that may be the difference in terms of incorporating them.

I feel like Gonzaga used to make their living on transfers and underrecruited international players. Now, Mark Few has the program built up to the point that they're just straight up recruiting blue chippers out of high school.

And yeah, Chris Holtmann at OSU has had a lot of success with transfers. There has been a steady stream of transfers in and out of his program since he got there, but the level of play has remained high and there hasn't been any public drama/bad blood associated with the guys who left the program for the most part.

Holtmann did a terrific job at Butler and appears to be a great hire for OSU, building their program now.

If Brannen didn't feel any pressure after the difficult start to this season, players quitting, opting out, or announcing transfer, it all seems to make his pathway to success more difficult. I think if we had some stellar recruits in the fold for next season we'd feel more confident that he was simply working on getting the best mix of players for his coaching style. If we had some warm, fuzzy comments from the local blue chip underclassmen in town, we'd see a brighter future. On the cusp of a losing season and in the absence of recruits, it's far from hopeless but certainly worrisome.

Guys leaving in the middle of the season is concerning. It's one thing to enter the portal in the off-season, but to just leave in mid-season is odd covid or no covid. I'm trying to stay positive, but I was expecting big careers out of Gabe and Zach at UC. Tari, Zach and Gabe were the players to build around.

Hopefully Gabe returns and Brannen can recruit to fill the holes.

This staff needs to find a few more wins this year, playwell in the conference, and kill it this spring to have a fighting chance at making it past year 3. Heck if they somehow go back to playing like junk and lose out this staff might not make it to year 3. I give them credit for winning four in a row and hope they have a plan going forward.

There are way too many red flags that go beyond winning and losing games that make me believe this staff isn’t right for UC. I am still not against hitting the reset button this spring based on recruiting, culture, and just overall fit for the program.

You got $4.5m to tell JB to take a hike?

Guess I’ll put this here...NCAA just extended the recruiting dead period through May 31st. So zero in person evaluations of players for Brannen who has a ton of open scholarships and still has zero commitments heading into the April signing period. We are going to need a program to keep track of all the transfers we are going to have.

Cuirously, I never heard the Jarron Is a Diva talk until last season . . .

Eason's mom is starting to remind me a little too much of LaVar Ball. I was looking through her posts a bit. Seems like she got upset about people starting rumors about Eason transferring, but I don't know what she expects when she Tweets stuff like this:

Just to clarify, I don't think Eason is transferring and I don't think his mom has a problem with Brannen. But she likes to stir the pot more than I'd prefer to see from the parent of a player. We knew about this when Eason committed, so it is what it is.

I love her on Twitter. She's awesome.

There was a Bearcat hoops parent who used to post on here years ago, but I can't remember who. Anyone recall?

She likes to have fun and talk ****, and I don't think she has any bad intentions. She wouldn't worry me in the slightest if things were going really well. It's during the tough times like this season that I cringe a bit.
