This is probably a blinding glimpse of the obvious but Ohtani's health will make or break the Angel's chances of contending.

Just saw the Cubs/White Sox allowed to have fans.

Down to like 7 teams with no fans right now.

Can't believe only 3 weeks until opening day.

Nats looking pretty good. Bell and Schwarber looked really good this spring. Avila a sneaky good move by Rizzo.

And most importantly- Strasburg is healthy. looked good in 1st outing. Max yesterday was dominant 9 up 9 down with 5 k's.

What are they going to do next if the batting average on ground balls doesn't improve as much as Manfred wants? Take two defensive players off the field entirely? Make pitchers throw each pitch with a 6-foot high arc as in slowpitch softball?

As for limiting the number of throws to first, why wouldn't a good base stealer just keep provoking throws to first until the limit is reached and he can get a big enough lead to steal second more easily?

I think they knew this was coming. Shifting like it or not is going to be out of the game.

The one that is interesting- the bigger bases.

RE: MLB 2021 Thread
The larger bases are almost irrelevant unless paired with instructions to umpires that a runner is always safe on a play at second if the infielder doesn't actually touch the bag while still holding the ball. If they're still going to call runners out at second if the infielder is "close enough", then all they're doing is moving the edge of one base three inches closer to the edge of the next base.

Making second base 0.4 percent closer to first base is not going to lead to a wave of base-stealing.

Reyes is filthy if he can stay healthy. I don't always get time to keep up to date on this board but I'm here once in awhile.

Pretty big news here:
https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/03/m...ffalo.html

Most notably, he(Blue Jays team president/CEO) also stated that the team has “fairly good information that the vaccine will be accessible to our players and other major-league teams in the next two to three weeks or month.”

Could very well be. California is going to make covid vaccines available to everyone 16 and over before the end of April. If that ends up being the case everywhere, then players and team personnel should be fully vaccinated by the end of May.

It's interesting- the timeframe the Blue Jays guy gives is actually sooner than that- like Mid April at the latest, and quite possibly by early April. I could see the government wanting them to get it quickly- both from a PR standpoint to get people to want to get it but also to have it where there aren't problems with the baseball season which could make people nervous about the recovery.
