absolutely love what he posted tonight. This will get him a lot of Mets fans really quickly IMO:

GTS? Georgia Tech Swagger?

I prefer Temperanillo or Roussillon. But Cab Sav isn't a bad fallback.

Seaver should send you some of his so you can give it a try! Fair compensation for advertising his wine here. 07-coffee3

of course Seaver passed away late last year so for Walker to post this like that was a pretty solid move on his part.

RE: MLB 2021 Thread
it's going to be really interesting this year in MLB with the baseball supposedly deadened to some degree. Just how much is the ball changed? How much is that going to change the game?

i think that puts us at 10 teams with fans maybe 11....
Both NYC teams
both Ohio teams
I think both Texas teams
I think all 3 Florida teams(including Toronto starting off there)
Atlanta
I think maybe Arizona

add both PA teams so we're now up to 12 or 13.

RE: MLB 2021 Thread
I know this inning-stoppage rule is only for spring training, and I know that spring training scores don't really count, but even so, this rule is asinine. It's ridiculous for a manager to bail his own team out of a big inning by just stopping it, and then sending the same pitcher back out for another inning after he is unable to get the side out in the previous inning.

Quote:Garrett Richards had gotten only one out during his first spring training start, loading the bases and walking in one run before the Red Sox stopped the inning after 23 pitches.

Then he went back out for a 1-2-3 second inning.
https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/3098...on-red-sox

Even if they're going to allow the stoppage to let pitchers get more work in during spring training, the rule should provide that if a manager stops an inning while his team is in the field, every runner on base at the time of the stoppage comes around to score.

yeah we had that yesterday with the Nats vs Cards. Flaherty had the bases loaded and they ended the 1st. Only thing they brought him back out and he gave up 3 more singles along with a walk.

Flaherty's final numbers 4-5 with 3 walks. and a wild pitch.

Given that MLB teams now charge regular season prices for spring training game tickets, they should at least try harder to pretend that the score of the game matters.

Not that I agree with the pricing, but that's on the fans if they're willing to pay that.

Spring Training is glorified practice and everyone knows it. I'd rather go to a minor league game and even then, I don't care about the result because it's still a glorified practice.

Why? Everybody knows what Spring Training is for. It's a big contrast to the regular season because it's not really about team play but about individuals, and the intimate(ish) sized parks and (usually) relaxed atmosphere allows access to players that rarely if ever is seen in a regular MLB game.

RE: MLB 2021 Thread
Shows why MLB pushed back the start of the minor league season and might keep pushing it back until covid vaccines are available for all adults.

Limiting the number of people who might come into contact with MLB personnel, and testing everyone in the smaller circles of people who do come in contact, limits potential exposure and helps to make results like these possible.
