Did WMU put their drama department on the broadcast for this one? These announcers are exaggerating everything.
The good new is Kent has been winning ... the bad news is Pippen has been in a serious funk the last four games.
Danny has had a # of surgeries and Coach has overused him and ran him ragged. his refusal to develop players or give them minutes and rest danny even maybe 4-5 minutes more per game
this year - shooting % after feb 1. 27-82 32.9%, whole season % 41%
Last year - shooting % after feb 1 34-93 36%, whole season 40%
I hope its just a slump but he looks gassed and out of juice to me
YOU'RE WAAAAAAY OFF BASE HERE: First, Pippen doesn't practice, he only plays, and when he's take out of games he clearly pouts. That's on him, not the coach. (And who does coach play instead, ... Bainbridge???)
Way off base? Explain the 2 year statistical trend. and danny didnt practice last year. i believe hes practicing at least some this year. I didnt say 10 minutes less i said 4-5 per game. Bainbridge will not kill you on defense. he or gabe could give you those minutes.
And the bigger issue is a 5 year senior who is supposedly our leader and best player pouts. Really pouts? A guy some of you belove and think will have some sort of pro career. Pouts? Come on folks. Been here 5 years and is what 23 years old? This league is hard enough you wont win a league title with those actions.
Listen, DP does a lot of things I don't particularly care for. So did Jaylin Walker, so did Jimmy Hall right through their senior seasons. Go to the Toledo, BG, Akron boards and you will see like complaints about MJackson, Turner and LJackson, too, right down to playing time, shot selection and maturity as well.
But just like those teams/coaches will keep playing those players ditto for Senderoff w/Pippen. What has eroded over time with all these teams are teammates holding each other accountable. It's understandable here, considering - after Pippen - the bulk of this team had not even played w/each other in open gym, much less a D1 practice or game before October.
Little has been said about Toledo being the only MAC team that held summer sessions for players. But it has paid dividends for them in the regular season.
As for the statistical trend for DP, it is what it is. There were comparable trends for past Kent players. Andrew Mitchell - one of the top 3-point shooters on the team - only made one 3-pointer after the 2002 regular season. Look up Huffman's scoring average in the post season. You might be surprised. Here's a clue: if you add up the total points he scored in the final game of each season, total, it would barely equal his career scoring average.
Every team/player can be nit-picked to death if you want to. But the fact is, so far, this team has had only one dog game all season in my mind (Akron, home), has played a stretch of games w/out two of its top three scorers (including Akron, home) and still sits as one of the top 3 teams in the MAC with a sometimes pouting senior playing on a pair of peanut brittle knees averaging 20 ppg and 8 rpg.
Let's get a grip people. If Kent doesn't win the 2017 MAC Tournament that team would have been (rightfully) nit-picked to death. If this team - heaven forbid - goes out in the first round of the MAC Tournament there would really not be much to complain about for the 2020-2021 Flashes.
